Hi guys,
Randomdef has tangled with justabitoftime personally with an ad hominem attack after justy stepped into a slagging match between erk and randomdef.
I’ve threatened him with the banhammer if there is another personal attack on another memeber of the community, to avoid justy having to do it and being accused of getting personal.
If anyone is aware of another infringement by randomdef, can you please let me know as I will then follow through and ban him, to avoid anyone else having to get involved.

Ban him, he won’t be missed, every post he has made has been fully loaded, the guys purely a confrontational tw@t that simply hides behind his keyboard being brave ::)

Agreed Though I do think he’s provoking us so that he can hit the trollbox with bullshit like “i tried to join the community but didn’t agree with their ideals so the banned me!” etc.
The Guys an arse for sure but he’s an arse on a mission IMHO.

Banning people won’t let you control them. Delete his posts if they’re inflammatory, but let him post and tell him what’s objectionable when you do delete them. Better to have him here with your attention than somewhere else.

[/quote]I agree for now, better the [i]divel[/i] you know…, but there may come a point of no return < Spam after spam after spam of new posts/threads about deleted posts/threads etc, etc…In that case he’s gotta be banned.

It does keep you stay alert when someone is a bit critical about us / feathercoin.
Altho when he is trying to be personal you can slap him in my opinion.

both erk and randomdef have acted silly. the latter has been trying to get us to play the bow down to the man with the money game. the former has been whining about every detail.
keep them, but keep watch.

Constructive criticism is fine, disagreement is fine but personal attacks are not.
Should we implement an infringement system where so many points get you a timeout of a day or so? Can SMF even do that?

But as the community manager for several communities prior to this one, I can tell you that actually banning someone often hurts you more than it hurts them. You’re better off keeping your enemy within your view than pushing him far away.
Of course this doesn’t apply to everyone. Spammers should be drug out to the street and shot. 9 times. With a 30-aught-6.

I’m all for temp bans [b]if [/b] attacks on other members happens EVER again. I ask you touch base with Bushstar personally so I don’t end up being called biased.

Ok, I agree with a 48hr timeout instead of a full ban, and will confirm with 2 other Global Moderators in any timeout situation, not just for randomdef.

I reckon he has 7 or 8 forums which he trolls for a day or so each in rotation. As long as there are no ad hominem attacks I’ll just mostly tune him out, with the odd poke just to keep things interesting.

I changed my mind, I issued a 72 hour break from the board. Telling members of the community to F-off is a personal attack and it won’t be tolerated.
