both erk and randomdef have acted silly. the latter has been trying to get us to play the bow down to the man with the money game. the former has been whining about every detail.
keep them, but keep watch.

Should we implement an infringement system where so many points get you a timeout of a day or so? Can SMF even do that?

If it comes to that then do it by hand. Give him a 48 hour time out.
But as the community manager for several communities prior to this one, I can tell you that actually banning someone often hurts you more than it hurts them. You’re better off keeping your enemy within your view than pushing him far away.
Of course this doesn’t apply to everyone. Spammers should be drug out to the street and shot. 9 times. With a 30-aught-6.

I’m all for temp bans [b]if [/b] attacks on other members happens EVER again. I ask you touch base with Bushstar personally so I don’t end up being called biased.

Ok, I agree with a 48hr timeout instead of a full ban, and will confirm with 2 other Global Moderators in any timeout situation, not just for randomdef.

I reckon he has 7 or 8 forums which he trolls for a day or so each in rotation. As long as there are no ad hominem attacks I’ll just mostly tune him out, with the odd poke just to keep things interesting.

I changed my mind, I issued a 72 hour break from the board. Telling members of the community to F-off is a personal attack and it won’t be tolerated.

Also had a Moderator message from Tsunami saying he was banned :-\
IP Bans are pointless I have users in an area of Manchester on my forum and when I tried to ban the Chinese (for their love of spam bots) iP range it banned all of them too as they fell within part of the range ;D
