What do you mean double set?

You’ve plugged two riser cables into each other like an extension cord?

I did that once and the PCIe slot caught fire after 10 seconds… I screwed a $300 mobo, I was so upset…

I dont use the prefab power cables. The power allways goes straight from the connector to the card with no “feedback wire”!

So i have never had any worries with this issue, and i have connected two extenders after one and another. one active and one passive.

If you connect two active cables i can see that this might be an problem, especially if you connect both the power plugs :P

Just prefer 3.1.1 According to people its more stable than newer releases (however i haven’t experienced this)
I’m on 64bits windows.

Found out windows put my cards to idle, had to build myself dummy plugs to keep em alive. Pretty stupid that this happens with win8 and and 13.12! Should be fixed by now!
But then again, it only happens to my Asus cards (sapphire works just fine)

But no I haven’t had the chance to use Paypal with it yet. Waiting for the price to go up for BTC as I sell FTC for BTC then sell that. I’ll let you know once the price is suitable for me.

I have 4 sapphire reference 7950s with arctic accelero extreme 3 aftermarket coolers. To be honest I dont like the design that much. They are very quiet coolers and keep the core in the low 60s but I have to keep the fans turned around 70-80% (and this is with a big 24inch fan blowing on them) or something overheats. I think its the VRMs. The design has a critical flaw that makes it bad for rigs. Most cards blow heat out the front or back but these shunt all the heat over the top and right into the fans of the card next to it. Its really bad when you have 4 of these lined up. They just pass the heat down the line, amplifying it until the last card overheats. You have to have a big jumbo fan moving air between them to make sure that heat doesnt get passed between the cards.

Here is a picture of the vent on top of the card. Its a slightly different model but still same vent.

Had the Accelero Extreme (7970 edition) to for my replacement on the shitty XFX 7970. Worked very well for me (need fan to push air through between the cards).
I do concur with having to have the fan speed on 80+%, and yes its due to the VRM overheating. Since the cooling for those is not connected to the main cooling block in needs air circulation strong enough to blow on the small fin block.

Ill see what happens. all the cards mine fine now (noisy as hell though due to 3/4 fan blades ;D). have two that is going to be taken on warranty (sapphire shitty stock fans don’t last long).
If i get the same replacement as last (280X), i will be very happy and just sell the rest with accelero turbo II fans=)

Yeah i have 3 more 7950 about to fail in the same way…
So i was wondering about sending em a mail and tell em that since you replaced to one… i have three more about to fail… Still don’t wanna refund me?=P
(keep in mind that the time before i got full refund for my 7950, which was the same value as the 280x is now…, so either way i will be good).

Don’t like that i got a new sapphire however, those fan constructions are just to bad imo… want a gigabyte card instead…
