Where to buy FTC?
-
Thank you all for the replies. It doesn’t seem as straight forward as I thought it would be. I was looking into www.vircurex.com, and from what I can tell, you can buy/sell FTC for USD, but have to use an intermediary (AurumXchange) in order to fund your vircurex account. It seems similar to the procedure ratm69 described for mtgox. However, it does appear that vircurex does allow FTC purchases and sales now.
It seems a business opportunity exists for crypto currency purchases with credit/debit cards… Hmmmmm, must get coding!

Yeah, you can do that on BTC-e.com. I don’t think mt.gox will have FTC exchange in the near future.

Turning USD into anything is troublesome due to the nature of USD and the regulation within the USA. I’m assuming you’re in the USA. Outside of the US there actually tends to be more options. You can use Mt.Gox or BTC-E. Transfer money in using Dwolla or Bitinstant. Alternatively, you can usually find people on LocalBitcoins to do cash in hand deals. Other avenues also exist to purchase cryptocurrency from individuals directly.
Your only option at this stage is to purchase bitcoin, and then trade bitcoin for FTC. The process will become easier as more infrastructure for Feathercoin is developed.
Personally I’ve never actually used USD to purchase cryptocurrency - I mostly deal with AUD and EUR, which are far easier to work with.

Hi,
I normally buy BTC first from Bitstamp, then transfer them to BTC-E trading exchange.
You can buy many other virtual currency like LTC, FTC, CNC.I also find trading between these virtual currency can do good sometimes.
I like the idea buy and selling. Great community and helps from trollchat box :)
Have fun and learning new things everyday.Enjoy.

I know for many new people to crypto, it is a hard start to get in. I actually started trading 6 months ago (not FTC) by first buying coins on ebay, then I could send them anywhere and trade while I waited for accounts to setup… for bank transfers etc… I have noticed a number of sellers selling FTC on ebay. Its good to see as its free marketing and a somewhat regulated way to get it, although at a premium. Now I use a combination of exchanges to move it where I want it.
anyways hope that helps

1. www.Coinbase.com and verify a bank account (2-5 days) to make deposit.
2. Buy Bitcoin via Coinbase.
3. Transfer Bitcoin to www.BTC-e.com or any other exchange you prefer.
4. Buy Feathercoin with BitcoinThis is basically what I did for Litecoin.

I tried to make a Dwolla account, then it got locked down because I’m not in the USA :P
I’ve found it’s even more difficult to get money in most trading sites if you’re not in the USA. It’s not impossible, but it’s not easy. -
I bought some on VirCurEx.com for USD… though, not a lot of volume there yet…
Yes, they closed down my Dwolla account too, even though I was using a US bank account. Getting money into exchanges is easy when you’re dealing with larger amounts of cash ($50k+), but for most people dealing with much smaller transactions, many hoops need to be jumped through so it’s not even worth the effort. Just buy using other means.

It must be frustrating right now - seeing FeatherCoins so cheap and not being able to buy.
Yeah, unfortunately this also cuts off a lot of people who’d like to try and dabble in the coin, it won’t hit this ‘public’ till a way can be found to purchase very small amounts without being crippled by the fees.
