Oh, Scrypt ASICs will arrive,We only have two months time.

Changing the FTC hashing algorithm, We only have two months time. They come . :-[
- Today , KnCMiner Sells $2 Million Worth of Dogecoin and Litecoin Mining Rigs in Just Four Hours.
- Today , coinotron LTC pool springing a super large 4192M force the miner, who will be ? :-\
-
- Scrypt ASICs will be sold within two months.
Will we have a solution sooner ? It may be BLAKE2b or Keccak256 or Scrypt-jane.Remember, we’re running out of time
-
LTC is dead, its only advantage of having a different algorithms than Bitcoins is fading away as sCrypt ASIC arrives.
LTC is nothing more than a copy of Bitcoin now! :)
@Warren (an incompetent LTC dev)… suck it!
-
Don’t panic Lizhi, it is relatively easy to change the algorithm.
It is much more important to do it right than do it quickly.

Wise man. ^-^

It’s been very interesting to see how the miners have reacted to news of large pre-orders of ASIC equipment.
I dare say the market won’t put up with Scrypt mining power becoming more centralised. Imagine LiteCoin changes it’s algo, all those paperweights…

LTC won’t change anything. They follow BTC and that’s all.

The will never dare to do something like that. That would be a huge error as
They follow BTC and that’s all.
They aim at the same explosion that BTC had… probably the price will soar and they will gain huge money.
Am I suggesting that they may be the ones that actually pushed the asics?? Well… it kinda make sense if you think about it… but maybe I’m completely out of track. Only time will tell.
-
Can you imagine all the bag holders screaming lol…
-
Well, actually this is a really interesting story which still has to completely unfold! It will be nice to see the outcome. Screams and all the rest, sure.
If changing an algo is such an easy thing (and it is) then you may be sure of two things:
1 - nobody is going to invest on the new "algoX"ASICS as more and more asic resistant coins get on the scene and the miners want to switch algo as soon as the infernal asics are announced.
2 - if they do, it means the devs of the coin themselves want the coin to be asic mineable looking after the BTC effect.
I don’t see many other probable scenarios. What do you think?
-
I’m also watching very closely… All the technocrats have already shunned Scrypt almost entirely. Then the flipside to that, I’ve got a friend in the states that has just added 500 Mh/s to his arsenal with Gridseeds and ordered 3000 Mh/s worth of KnCMiner equipment… And he’s not alone…
So, has the crypto currency market “come of age”… What I mean is, are us GPU miners now almost irrelevant? I really don’t know, I agree that it’s going to be fascinating to see how it all pans out…
-
GPU will always have it’s place in the spawning pools.
-
Coindesk just posted a video about a new Scrypt ASIC coming out for $10,000 USD it delivers 100MH of scrypt hashing power…
-
Also check out some new coins that are coming out that are “Anti-Asic” - UltraCoin??
-
Seems several coins are changing their algo to other than scrypt now :)
Glad i didnt invest in those paperweights ;D

Anyone looking for some really nice paper weights?
I wasn’t around for the BTC/ASIC revolution… why didn’t BTC change when GPU mining died?
-
I’ve got some gridseeds, they are OK, but I’m a bit of an emotional miner, it’s gotta look right as well. The Gridseeds are messy and I feel like I need to take a shower every time I finish using them. They are up on eBay, I’m happy to wait a few months for the European scrypt boxes…
There’s still plenty of action on the GPU mining scene to keep me busy…
-
Ya scrypt jane blows… even with 4 R9 280x test cards that I have… i was only pulling 420kh/s!!
Soon before we know it we will be running in decimal .03kh/s lol
-
What makes you think the new Scrypt Asics won’t be able to handle a new algorithm?
I bet it’s already possible with exception to vertcoin and whatnot.
I don’t know, I support asic tech. It’s important to scale the technology in order to make it viable in my opinion.

Easy… otherwise the were called MAIC instead of ASIC. For Multiple Application Integrated Circuit. :P
Well, jokes apart if it’s closely based on scrypt maybe they can be tweaked.

I support the evolution of technology up to the point it does not interfere with the right of everybody to have a slice of the cake. No matter how small. And I’m not talking cryptos here… I’m just saying that when I didn’t have a pc because they where fuxxing expensive I was feeling really bad because all the people around me had (I had a sad economic infantry…). Then the price dropped and now I have (maybe) 6 lying around. Mining, mostly.
So, just take a look at BTC: you can buy those monster ASICs for good money and have a paperweight in a couple of months as all the rest of the word is fighting each other for some dust payment. Is this “viable technology”? Maybe if you’re ultra-rich. Otherwise it is not, as the normal people will flee the mining field. Meanwhile there are asic farms hitting the 50% of the net on a daily base, wiping away the “decentralisation”. How much do you think it will take them to go for 51% attacks?
GPU mining is the way: you may always invest in a couple hundreds dollars even if you’re not Bill Gates and have some decent haspower. And if you’re not satisfied with the payments, you can always go playing Crysis with that GPU!Just my two cents ;)
-
I think making Feathercoin ASIC resistant is the right way to go. If we do not change we risk the integrity of our blockchain to 51% attacks, (or ‘selfish miners’).
