Issues with PXC?

Here is my quick analysis on Phenixcoin’s upcoming hard fork which is useless if not worse.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266377.msg2855253#msg2855253
I cannot decide if it’s all intentional or just incompetence.
EDIT by Magic8Ball: Split and made a new topic. Keep discussions civil.

Choices were made by the team, I’m not here to justify it. I’m shifting quite a bit of focus to their team to help assist in development and strategic planning:
http://forum.phenixcoin.com/index.php/topic,126.0.html
In the end, do I believe they are good choice for investors? Yes… I’m putting my money and time where my mouth is… I plan to continue to drop 5 figures fiat on coinage as well as shifting all my miners in that direction. I know the potential and fairly confident I can help get them headed in the right direction.
In 3 months for now, I’d hate to not be an investor. I could be wrong, however, I like my chances.
–
I continue to push Feather as well, I have follow-up emails to do tonight with people I met at the Bitcoin Conference.
-
John, I’m not sure if you realise consequences of their hard fork. We’ve been under serious 51% attacks, they weren’t. Anyway, time will tell. All I can say right now is I’m very upset with their project management and community relationships. They do what they like and ignore others. There is no teamwork, they haven’t even provided details on the hard fork to the partners. They haven’t finished a single project in 2 months. The Bridge is 12 days behind schedule and counting.
I’ve thrown quite a lot of hash power into their network in July when they needed it. I also own about 2% of the total PXC supply by this moment including 1 million of their pre-mine. I’m not comfortable to support them further with my hash power and money. When the price recovers, I’m going out of PXC.
In the end, do I believe they are good choice for investors? Yes…
They don’t seem to need investors. Do you believe they’re better choice than Feathercoin?
-
This is a trust issue here. I was worried about a 51% for the coin. This. This upset me.
Having no accountability for something like this just encourages it in the future. Saying it should be ignored lessens cryptos in general.
Now, I truly understand the wild west view of crypto. >:(

Announcing and implementing a hard fork in a couple of hours is a serious matter. It seemed that a lot of pools were running on the older client and hence on the wrong fork.
I was surprised to see that and could not believe they were doing such a thing. Just for comparison remember how much we advertised well in advance for our hard fork. I have to say this all seems a bit off to me.
Hopefully Justabit can get some answer from our partners. Sudden changes like these are scary.
-
the only reason i can think of is that they needed more coins
in circulation due to some bridge stuff. setting down block time without setting down reward
on a coin that has been mined for a long time is suicide.the small faithfull miner society that pxc had are aaaaangry, and i dont blame them.
i remember the loong wait with ftc’s 33000block cold fork.
to do an adjusent like that within hours without letting pools come up to speed is just beyond…what they have done is create a mine and dump coin, holding pxc is a
risky move with so triggerhappy devs -
I agree. My pool was caught out and if it wasn’t for miners (thanks sixgun) pointing out the rejects…
Lunacy and NO excuse what-so-ever.
If they ain’t careful pxc will be dead before bridge goes live. Speaking to a lot of miners (and a few traders) they have dismissed it already. :'(
I hope your faith is not misplaced John.
If we really want to help them we need to either liven up their forums or make a pxc sub forum here so we can help build the same community support that ftc has.
-
Good information everyone. My first priority in the PXC side is around communication flow. I’ve met with Bushstar, we’ve worked through not only the changes on the next next patch but a strategy for deployment. I’ll make sure pools/exchanges are handled the correct way moving forward.
Once this handled, I’ll then work with their community to build it from the ground up. I’m bring brought in to assist, I’ll get it handled.

Although I don’t mind to have business with those working in adult industry, I wouldn’t trust Mike to code even a simple GUI front end.

What’s difficult to believe?
Can we have an update on the progress of UNOCS Wesphily? Updated timescales? Been over a week since the last update…
It’s gone from 24 hours delay, 3 day delay, delay, delay… silence.
Alpha pen testing? it was being launched!
Sounds like the same thing to me.
Justabit: There is NOTHING about this guy’s background, or his current work which makes him attractive to investors. You want someone who’s viable, look at Sunny King (PPC, Primecoin). Do a close comparison of their work ethics, their coding ability, their completed projects, their resources, their reputation in the community, the price of their coins… There’s just no comparison to be made here.
Please, turn off the hype machine, you’re just making it worse by bringing attention to these problems and pretending there’s nothing wrong with iamatrix lying to us all. He’s scammed the entire community, lied through his teeth, his web design is terribad, he’s killing his coin, he’s not even a member of -this- community as best I can tell, and he’s earned himself a very strong disliking in the community with his actions.
You do realize my comment was like 4 days ago… hype machine? lol Oh boy… Kevlar, you are one of the more interesting characters around here. I’m still smiling over the comment about women rewarding you… I’m not quite so lucky. :)
Great, your opinion is noted… over and over and over and over again. You’re not my boss, I heard what you had to say… I’m moving on from here. It’s my butt making the phone calls, spending the money and trying to leverage Feathercoin.
In one of your previous posts you told me how I should have ran things. Great, I’m still looking forward to your fork… show me how easy all of this is to balance. In the meantime, I’ll continue to do what I do.
For the people that continually email me about your intentions, I have no idea. It’s Kevlar… he has a right to speak his mind, that’s for you to decide. I’m just some guy that helped out… nothing more. His opinions are noted, not my concern anymore… I’m here to help the 3 coins. He can flame the next person that tries to help out, it won’t be me.

This makes me incredibly concerned about the future of UNOCS and FTC. I don’t see a better coin at this point, and FTC definitely has a lot going for it, but the ignorance here concerns me. It appears that everyone involved in UNOCS got taken for a ride. Unless the team overcomes this issue quickly and efficiently, FTC is ripe for being replaced by another coin.
Confidence is EVERYTHING when it comes to currencies. The FTC and WDC teams will likely get the benefit of the doubt because this guy seems like a decently skilled scammer, but that won’t last for long if peoples’ concerns are not addressed in short order.
-
Good points about transparency which should be quickly cleared because of the actually doubts and rumors
Case must be investigated and devs should react quickly to the outcomes …
UNOCS still is in the testing stage … we will be the laughter in the street if this will not change soon

What I am curious about is:1. Who is the developer of the UNOCS bridge and other future services?
2. If it is indeed “Mike” are there other developers working with him or is he working solo?
3. Is anyone auditing or checking on his progress / how do we know he is actually building functional code?
I think these are some important points.
A little googling cleared up 1 and 2.
1. His name is quoted in the media as Mike Burns, aka Mike69, aka iamatrix.
2. It was initially claimed that it was a ‘team of developers’ who were working on Bridge, but it was later revealed it’s a one-man show.
3. To the best of my understanding there are exactly 0 merchants who have integrated with Bridge successfully, making it vaporware and not fit for public consumption, let alone a press release, official announcement, or countdown to launch. Any claims of “alpha testing” (Alpha stage means it’s not yet complete) have not been verified by any community members. I would LOVE for some independant source to counter this claim, so if you’ve used Bridge, to accept payments on your website, PLEASE speak up!On July 30th, Android and iOS versions of the application were announced to the public. On that same day, Justabit also told the public that “…the three member currencies of UNOCS [will] implement Bridge support into their respective clients… With a click, it’ll do the exchange for you. That’s not in this initial release, but that’s where it’s heading.” Today is August 7th.
On that same day, it was revealed that “User accounts are split into two stores of money — one for saving and one for transactions. The transaction account has three types of (virtual) payment cards attached to them: the primary card which is limited by what is in the spending account, a secondary card which which have a daily spend limit, and one time use cards for extra protection.", and Mike claimed that, “…the system has been designed to present as familiar as possible experience to non-technical users.”
Oh, and fiat conversion was also promised “in the future”, and that “we’re doing the necessary licensing/bonding etc.”.
But let’s not forget the single most damning piece of evidence:
[move]You can’t even use PXC to play poker on PhenixPoker.com, which was the reason the coin was created.[/move]
I’ve been there, the tables are all empty. Every single table, 0/10. As far as I can tell, THAT site isn’t even functional, but if someone would like to report their winnings, I’d love to be proven wrong about that too.

Community is crying for the truth so please DEVs/AMBASSADOR - provide us a officially statement to clear out concerns and update progress to UNOCS page development

PhenixPoker has worked on occasion, though it’s super buggy. I won several free rolls there in the past.
It’s early morning in the UK right now, so don’t expect a quick reply from anyone. This isn’t a life or death situation, at least at this point.
-
Why don’t you implement “Zerocoin”, it seem the answer to everything here?
