Feathercoin game idea
-
These guys had made Minecraft which used LTC as in-game currency. Now they are making another game which uses their own coins.

Maybe some game like this is the way to go if we can get some tie-in in with developers (not the above mentioned, as they are obviously into their own coin).

great concept!
also would be cool if the game would have only feather related items or special feather related items linked to feathercoins. For instance mining is great–all coins need mining, how about hunting–hunt anything that gives feathers=feathercoins. a new skill could be feather gatherer (featherist) who could turn in for feathercoins. a feathersmith-one who would use the hunters inventory and featherists inventory to make unique feather items or converts into feathercoins.just a few more ideas to throw in :)

Although if we could somehow get a well established game or game company to take up this idea…hmm.
Yep.

but also give an option for people to deposit coins instead of mining. Have some sort of subscription (in Feathercoins) per month to play the full game.A lot to think of…
Good idea!

However, instead of tapping into the greed of the gambler I was thinking of tapping into the psyche of the average gamer.
What causes thousands of people to immerse themselves in the virtual world of massively multiplayer online games? Richard Allan Bartle, game researcher and author, is well-known in the MMO game industry. His research and theories regarding MMO players were quite fascinating. Check out one of his abstracts here.
http://www.mud.co.uk/richard/hcds.htmAccording to Bartle we can divide MMO players into four predominant types: achievers, socializers, killers, and explorers. It’s important to realize that this is a stereotypical classification; however, surprisingly it applies to almost every gamer.
There are many other articles on how people become addicted to “leveling up”.

An online video game was released in 2003 titled “star wars galaxies,” published by sony online entertainment. The world within the game was completely created by the community of players. The community built cities and towns, started businesses, transacted with one another, and created their own goods. The economic system within the game was completely maintained and built from the ground up. It was what you would call a “sandbox” game. Although the game was loved by many, it slowly started decay due to the fact that it was to complicated for the majority of gamers. Sony shut game down. The game, however, is being rebuilt by an open source community dedicated to getting their game back. Due to the fact that their emulation project is open source, it is completely feasible that they may integrate the feathercoin source into their system. Essentially, the players would build an economy that has real world value. The work that they put into the game would yield real profit, rather than a fake digital currency that is only valuable within the game. It could spark a total re imagination of online gaming. The value of feather would sky rocket due to the unique use not seen by other crypto currency. Their emulation community of thousands is akin to our feathercoin community, with active participation and open mindedness.

Yeah, in college we called it dating. :)

I haven’t had much time to dedicate to this unfortunately. I did sign up at the forums and read up as much as I could. For the past few months I’ve been testing for Sega and the game was finally released, but then I decided to go ahead and release a mod I’d put on the shelf for the old THQ version of the same game. So soon I will have time to start looking into this a bit deeper, grab a copy and dive in to see what you’re describing.
The community (as you said) appears to be a lot like Feathercoins, so it would be great if the two could be brought together and may prove mutually beneficial.
I missed all that. Probably why I’m so goofy later in life, it was delayed.

I heard here … https://soundcloud.com/mindtomatter/e22-asics-forensics-and-other @ 54.43 … that there is a company called “1337 coin” that adds bitcoin rewards to games. However I have not been able to locate them on the web to contact them about Feathercoin support.

Re: Feathercoin game / virtual world server
Minetest has now matured and is an open source community game. I am setting up a server for a Feathercoin world. I’ll announce the IP when it’s up. Initially as a test
PM if you want to be an admin or have some “worlds”.

What’s minetest? Googling.

Cool!
Commander Keen source was also released.
If Dogecoin dies (unlikely) we should probably contact this company to replace teh Doge.
