I have not fully looked into seg-wit, I understand it is a feature that can be used in future versions of FTC and may be testable in 0.11.

As such, I believe from previous discussion ( @ghostlander, @Lizhi) i.e. those that might program it, we need some custom settings for FTC. I do not believe those settings have been properly agreed.

In order to move forward, we have therefore spent a lot of time reviewing and fixing 0.6.x development line. The next strategic task to obtain further functionality is to release 0.11.x through a similar review procedure, then move so as FTC development is at Bitcoin head.

This is not a complicated programing task, in fact both @Lizhi and @Bushstar have documented it withing Github FTC commits. Any contributer could go through commits and make a list of FTC parameters and changes, required to patch head Bitcoin to FTC …

Where’as FTC have a small team slowly moving forward, or already having tasks or responsibilities >> hobby that could easily be accelerated with more support. Either completing some small task, learning part of the development procedure … all would help these new features appear.

True it doesn’t seem to be cost effective for anyone to pay those prices. The chips probably cost near nothing to print and gridseed will only sell when its much more profitable than mining themselves, hence the high price. At prices like that, GPUs are a way better investment. Even if electricity is too high to mine, it makes much more sense to buy ftc than buy one of these. And the argument “buying crypto is too risky because if it fails you have nothing” also applies here. If crypto fails these will have zero resale value since they are specialized for mining. So again, you are better off buying the coins. Hence, the only reason to buy one would be for the novelty/hobby value.

at least, BitCoin’s ASIC might be useful for things like bruteforcing…
there are still MANY database out there that utilize SHA256 without a seed. An ASIC with 600GH/s (2k USD) can easily bruteforce 10 characters or more within days.

Given the fact that people have done it with a GPU cluster of 5 (6 billion calculation/s each), for Windows XP/Vista/7 password. 600GH is 100x more each!

Sorry for this big qoute - I’m just in it for the excitement and will not sell my Feathercoins for any FIAT in the coming 4 years or so. I mad my first purchase with it yesterday on the Marketplace so hooray! The price isn’t the thing that worries me, the fact people keep thinking it’s game over instead of taking over the game itself by spreading the word (the bird, the bird, the bird is the word). I will keep stimulating and am in for helping all these current ‘‘let’s do somethings’’.

Thing is, there all ready was a childboard of the type labeled " Contests&Giveaways " It has been archived for some reason, so maybe we should look into why that was done.
