Who's our marketing guy?

(1) I’d like to commit some of my time to marketing activities in Germany. chekaZ inspired my with what he achieved (http://www.dahms-weinversand.de/ accepting Feathercoin).(2) imho it would be nice to have a forum called “Marketing Activities”, with subforums. One for “global” and one for each country we have marketing guys in.
What do you think?
Thumbs up to nr 1.
Number two however is imo a narrow path to ending up in something that becomes for “feathercoin forum users only”.
In my opinion we need one leader thats head of the PR, Chris is pretty much busy with the merchant aspect, so we should have another guy that promotes the more technical part of feathercoin. Beeing in charge of listening to people, what they have made and process it out there. As of now those technical aspects gets hidden and “semilaunched” in the weekly newsletter among to much other information (philosophy, merchant adoption, single persons contact with merchant etc.).
That leader could have people in separate countries dealing with their local stuff and report to the main guy to get an “common update”. -
I’d always be up for helping out / promoting FTC (for a bit of coin of course ;)).
How about this: Maybe I can paint a giant FTC coin logo on my chest and go streaking at a big football game/event haha. Maybe not the right type of exposure FTC is after, but I gurantee you’ll get some media attention 8)
Hehe i think you have misunderstand the issue at hand.
We are currently being surpassed by other coins, even though we are superior to them in regards to features that has been made (online wallet, 51% protection, own marketplace) and so one. Which means that the PR bit is failing in regards to getting it out there. -
I’m so glad someone said this!
I’ve been scratching my head on this exact issue for a couple of weeks now, last Sunday I started to put it down on paper and I’ve forgotten to show up for work this week. I’ve lost countless nights of sleep, busy laying down the foundations and writing up a sort of blueprint to bring forth Feathercoin. It’s ambitious, on the level with House of Cards, hah.
Why Feathercoin?
The reason I want to spend so much effort and time towards Feathercoin and not another coin is the community here really see’s alt currencies as a legitimate form to use in any transaction. We really want to use FTC in our everyday lives. It’s about the bigger picture. Not about exploiting the volatile market for an easy payout.
Revolution! Max Keiser said excitingly talking about Bitcoin.
Really though?
Looking through the comments here, people have reacted to this volatile pump and dump market. Lets take a step back here and look at it for what it is, there certainly are comparisons to Wall St.That isn’t going make for a good people’s currency and take back control Max. Drop the R.
Evolution.
Yes, it’s innovative and we’ll use it. But who’s ending up with it? For the average person, investing in Bitcoin is pretty awkward. What I mean, e.g. is that a single mother working full time isn’t going to come home to spend the evening on BTC-E or MtGox and wire money to unfamiliar places. Another issue as the value goes up is the introductory price to get into Bitcoin is [s]s̶Ì*t̶Ì*e̶Ì*a̶Ì*d̶Ì*i̶Ì*l̶Ì*y̶Ì*[/s] already getting out of reach for the average domestic household. I’m willing to bet if we took to the streets and offered passing pedestrians a Bitcoin or $1000 cash, 9 out of 10 will take the paper.
So what happens when it hits $2000? As soon as any item can claim some value and it causes traction and influence on any market the wolves come out.Having a closed thread for elite members, some sort of “Brain Trust” were we could update on our latest strategies, campaigns etc would do no harm. E.g. if someone were to manage to get a meeting with a major company and it’s openly discussion online, it’s going to attract the opportunists seeking self profit.
However once the deals are done or the campaigns start running, we can post a newsletter about it so it’s out there in the open.I know I’m new here, so I was going to make a post about mining later (not tech related). It may give a sense of what kind of person I actually am and I could further elaborated my thoughts in a “Brain Trust” thread.
I’m seriously considering quitting my job to pursue this, as I believe alt currencies can make a difference and the Feathercoin community can hold the torch and shed light through what is becoming a more and more hostile environment for all the wrong reasons.
Yes it’s going to be ambitious, but as someone famous once said: First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
we do need someone pushing what we have done technically, I don’t know enough technically to do that :/

Everyone works in marketing because everybody communicates. I did an interview with Coindesk yesterday re Bittylicious, rehearsing for my talk on Saturday today. Sorry I should be spending more time on the forum but right now in a meeting with a designer to get our front page fixed.
We already spoke to Keiser’s affiliates and I don’t think that kind of mass marketing is the right approach, happy to talk about it on Skype if anyone wants to know why, just PM me your details.
I will be refreshing the forum while in the meeting.

+1 on this, If i didn’t have others to think about I’d go full time here.
& that last line sums up the history of feathercoin.
I like a lot whats been said on this thread, some of us are feeling useless at the moment but here is what we can do.
1. Help out on the forum, with new members, new miners, these guys are the blood of feathercoin.
2. Seek out news articles on feathercoin or ones that mention us, drop a small comment, show the press that these news items have readers.
3. Contact your local media (radio, newspaper, tv) tell them you’ll do an interview on feathercoin/cryptos and explain what its all about.
You don’t need to be great at interviews or be in marketing for this, media love interiewing the average joe. -

Number three is the most important and the easiest as any of us can do it. If you believe in Feathercoin; tell people about it. Tell your friends and family and anyone you meet about it. Not only is it in your own interests to promote FTC, but I also believe it will be in theirs if they’d like to make a bit of cash and possibly a lot. Cryptocurrencies are always a good talking/conversation point, and who doesn’t like to tell people that they trade currency? ;). To promote it to people who are skeptical or apprehensive; give 'em a coin or two if you can afford it. You could also give coins away as a gift/present and tell them about how it’s a potentially great investment opportunity. Advise them to keep an eye on the value of it frequently, or even just check it once a month or so to see how it’s doing. I’m sure they will be pleasantly surprised. Recommend they bookmark http://coinmarketcap.com.

I would be interested in distributing some information … Few quick ideas:
I am an eBay seller who trades in retro computer games. I could include a leaflet in every package I send out for instance.
I could also distribute leaflets via the local newspaper promoting Feathercoin
YouTube is a massive area to exploit too. Create videos and lots of them but maybe instead of boring informative videos though something could be done more with trying to create viral vids which then advertise Feathercoin
We could all do our bit

I like the idea of giving away ftc’s especially this Christmas. It’s a perfect way to open the door and introduce people to cryptocurrencies. I have personally been involved with the cryptocurrency economy for 4 months and have poured myself into learning and rapping my mind around this. It is not easy to do. It’s like taking a drink from a fire hose. IT definitely takes consistent, small bites of information that build on each other.
For those that are tech savvy and understand script, the other one bitcoin uses, the differences between cenyralized and decentralized currency, online wallets and therr standen a encrypto passcode to have access, ability to go on the exchanges and purchase ftc, btc, ltc etc…, qe,1,2,3 and forever, the debt ceiling and hiw it will always go up, the federal reserve not being a part of the US Government but actually is a business that has stock holders and nobody knows who runs it etc…the list goes on and on
would be like me taking the great minds on here that fully understand mining, cryptocurrencies, programming and throwing you in my Kitchen on a busy evening expecting great results…its not foing to happen. We, as a team, need to boil cryptocurrencies down to a 1st grade level. Once that someone gets the basics and the lightbulb goes off, its only full force ahead with the masses…and thats what we want and need, a currency the masses can use.
just my thoughts… -
Anybody interested in helping out please add yourself to this thread http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,5200.0.html
Even if you just have an idea :) Thanks
I think you are correct, it is amazing to see how many people still haven’t even heard of Bitcoin, leave alone FTC.
The biggest problem is, we now have these ex-Federal Bank officials and other bankers/influential financial people saying how bad BTC and derived currencies are… And that is probably the only information that a large portion of the population has received on the subject! When I am a normal guy who has never heard about Bitcoin, and suddenly highly ranked officials are telling me that this is a huge bubble with no intrinsic value whatsoever, do you think I would ever even consider Bitcoin or cryptocurrency as a whole again?
We might go out there and search for objective information on the matter but fact is, MANY people don’t and will take this news for solid fact…
