Coin Market
-
I’ve got my CoinMKT account up and running. So far there are a few bugs, but the system is very nice. I’ve been shooting emails back and forth with support and they are extremely responsive and helpful.
I think it would be a good idea for the Feathercoin Community to send some FTC over there to help fill the order-books and do a bit of Beta Testing. Even if its a small amount of FTC. This could be a good opportunity for FTC to take the volume lead on a new and upcoming exchange. I can see CoinMkt becoming the next Coinbase for alt-coins.

Me too, I am working with Travis there to do a promotion.
Ahh yes a promotion would be excellent! I’m talking more about just setting up a CoinMKT account and start doing a little trading… Put up some buy and sell orders… shake the market a little bit. Right now its kind of stagnant over there. It just needs a little push.
I think this domain needs new money to enter, the existing audience has already invested as much as they are comfortable with, the challenge is a marketing one not a technological one. We can help them in this area.
Yes, I agree with all of that (except for the existing audience already being invested part 8)). I for one, am constantly turning a portion of my paycheck into crypto. CoinMKT will be a huge advantage for me. No longer do I have to wait for BTC to fall to a level where I am comfortable buying-in. I can now purchase any alt-coin whenever I please with my USD. This is the beauty of CoinMKT.
All I am proposing is to get some FTC in on the buy and sell side of the orderbooks. Right now, the depth is nearly non-existent. I have put up some sells and as soon as I get some USD in there, I will be putting in some buys.
No “new money” is going to want to enter the market with the such little volume in the orderbook.
I understand they are a brand new exchange and this will come in time. But we can certainly accelerate this process by providing some FTC for new users to purchase.
In conclusion: Create a CoinMKT account and send 10 FTC over there and start trading!
Thanks that’s good feedback on the new money, I am glad we still have liquidity entering the market. Yes CoinMkt do have a cold start problem, I understand there are more buys on the BTC side of the order book. I am waiting for them to get back to me to see if they can sell us some USD vouchers that we can give away on Twitter and on here in the Forum.
How would you run a competition like that?

Opened account, sent some FTC to start trading…I suggest everyone does the same. Doesn’t have to be much, it’s important to increase the trade volume and make this exchange a competitive alternative to others. This will hopefully also force other exchanges to reconsider their current policy on FTC (number of confirmations, adding FTC/USD pair…), in the end - when such things happen - the value could increase…
One idea would be to run a Twitter competition. I’ve seen loads of start-ups gain massive following and exposure by giving free stuff away. (social media types love free stuff)
You could do this by composing a tweet such as:
@feathercoin now featured on @coinmkt! To celebrate, we will be giving away free USD vouchers to use on @coinmkt! Re-tweet for a chance to win! #feathercoin
sit back and watch the re-tweets pour in until contest deadline.
You would then assign numbers to the re-tweeters in chronological order based on the time and date they re-tweeted.
Use a random number generator such as http://www.mathgoodies.com/calculators/random_no_custom.html to pick the winners.
Coinmkt is still in Public Beta, so it would be wise to let them get the kinks sorted out before starting the contest. 8)

I’m really digging CoinMKT. I’m new to crypto, but I’ve played around with a few other exchanges. I wasn’t able to make an account at Mt.Gox at all, and some of the news I’ve read about them recently doesn’t inspire confidence so I didn’t bother. I have an account at BTC-e, but that must be the most unprofessional looking thing I’ve ever seen. It looks like if 4chan had a go at internet banking. I know it’s superficial, but the interface on CoinMKT looks good and is getting smoother every time I log in. All my transactions went off without a hitch and when I had an issue, Travis got back to me within minutes. I feel like I could show the site off to friends without feeling embarrassed. I hope they keep it up.

Have to say, Coin Market looks excellent.
Even has monopoly money for people that wanna have fun ;D -
CoinMKT is the absolute most user friendly exchange out there. I have been playing with my FTC there (just a small time miner), and would highly suggest everyone give it a try. This is the sort of user experience that will draw in non-crypto junkies to use cryptocurrency and as a software developer myself, I know that is not an easy task to accomplish.

only problem i can see is that today (my first time using coinmkt), the graphs had issues loading.
Hopefully this was a one time thing=) -

This is the competition I am thinking of running on Twitter:
“Did you know you can buy Feathercoins for Dollars at @coinmkt? First 50 people to RT this get 10 $FTC”
Do you think that’s enough, too much? This is the 500 FTC Justabit gave to me before he left because he set it up with the guys at CoinMkt.
I read that as “10 dollars worth of FTC” since $ is the symbol for USD, and just prior you said you can use dollars to buy FTC. A bit misleading. I’d be not pleased when I realized I was getting less than a dollars worth. Just remove the $.
Looks good to me. But as Kevlar said… the $ sign threw me off a bit
Good point. the $ sign is what twitter uses as a clickable tag for anything money related. I have been hijacking the stock with the ticker symbol FTC for the last few months lol
-
Ok running the competition now. I ended up halving the amount to 25 RTs and giving away 20FTC to make it more meaningful to those who do win.
So check it out.

Maybe we should use some symbol for FTC?
I am not sure if these will show up outside of OSX:⨠or â¨
Only the mathematicians will be confused.
