Every Important Person In Bitcoin Just Got Subpoenaed By New York’s Financial Regulator.
Also in a separate action the “USA H0melan $ecru1ty” start Terry1$t Moony Lundering h1nve$tigrations.
On the flip side they’ve basically declared cryptocurrency a type of money.
- Obviously we were all waiting for this to happen, weren’t we?
To me Feathercoin is not polluted with the Bitcoin vibe that they are investigating, so this will bring a sharp spot light onto Feathercoin… watch out

Every PR is good PR ;D
On the flip side it will be alot of news article regarding digital currency to come.
I actually think this can be a positive thing :o -
Crypto currency is a revolution and it does not look like it will be a quiet one.
-
I agree, I am also saying we will now have to concentrate on the problems of mass take up.
Security.
If we can spread the mining a bit to increase security, hash variability, which might happen with extra publicity. We may just be secure to be more viable for mass adoption.
Action.
1. Encourage more miners
2. Test possible security updates
etc…Publicity
I would prefer to be noticed for good things not bad. Something could end us personally be investigated by X (Depend on your Gov) and at the moment Feathercoin is free from those stigma’s, which I think will be exponentially in our favour.
Action
1. Get Bushstar on TV
2. Explain how Feathercoin is a community action, of users, miners and developers.
3. ??Associations, co-operations and competition.
I see some possible kick back from our “competition”
Action.
1. Make official link to Litecoin and Bitcoin to share technology.
2. Publicise we love Bitcoin, Litecoin. Feathercoin is just made for more wider appeal.
3. Publicise we are now in Beta and would like more external testers.
4. Widen forum to cover more Statistics, Rate associated products.
5. ??I could go on, but have to eat. The list is too massive, needs prioritising.
I’ll be very interested in what anyone else thinks are Feathercoin “modes of failure”, I’ll help cloud source an FMECA.

Every single organization on the subpoena list is based out of the US.
At this point it’s obvious that if your business has anything to do with cryptocurrencies and has physical ties to the US then you are just asking for trouble.
-
No matter how hard they try its impossible to stop crypto now :) Money 2.0 are here and working well ;)
-
We need to be a bit more Kung Fu to succeed.
-
I really hope they try to ban it I mean talk about scarcity, I will round up every last penny - prohibition never works!
The revolution will be Liked, Retweeted & Livestreamed.
I’m afraid not having physical ties to the U.S. is not enough. Just ask Megaupload, Liberty Reserve, Wikileaks, or the former head of state of Panama.
One whole point of cryptocurrencies is to be distributed, decentralized, not linked physically to any one country - in other words, global and stateless. The more the U.S. and other governments try to bring cryptos under their regulatory schemes, the more they are going to route around it and a truly stateless, impossible-to-shut-down infrastructure will emerge.

If anything “banning/restricting” it will just pull the Streisand effect. Every iconoclast without fear will come out of the woodwork and start using it for private trades.
-
I prefer the analogy of the authorities playing whack-a-mole with liquid mercury :)
“Streisand effect” has a bit too much connotation of Internet stalkers, and the creepy “privacy is dead, get over it” crowd. Not my favorite term. But I do get and agree with your point.
