Issues with PXC?

or Justabitoftime …
-
wesphily is in charge and should be the one that is on top of things.
lets leave justabitoftime to do what he do best. beeing productive :D -
Justabit attended talking about this topic, so his opinion/clarification/statement is verry welcome, especially as i know him as a verry diplomatic and prudent person (nothing against "you"whespily!)

The revelation about Mike is very concerning. I diversified and got a few PXCs and WDCs after the partnership was announced as I had full faith in our community, and this was recommended. Now it seems that PXC is quite dubious (my alarm bells were set off when they announced the hard fork) and I am wondering whether I should sell off my (admittedly very small) stash at almost half the price.
I am hoping we have not put all our eggs in the UNOCS basket. FTC by itself has now has established itself quite a bit (mainly due to the efforts of you guys) and I am sure even if we need to break off the partnership we will do well.
I just feel a bit sorry for the WDC guys. They seem to be a decent bunch, and I have been to their chatbox several times. It seems they do not have much clue about UNOCS either.
-
This should be intensively discussed by the devs and leadership of feathercoin - and as a further step with our partner(s).
Better adress this directly (PM) to the leadership (bush, justabitoftime, whespily,…)
btw, would be a verry bad press if the bridge would crush before its finished …

We need facts to decide this

I’m also concerned about the current state of PXC, and I’m glad I only have very little exposure to it, only holding 900 or so.
However, on the matter of Feathercoin and UNOCS, I will say the following:
I do not have a clue about what is happening with UNOCS, but frankly at this stage, I don’t really care. Feather coin is not UNOCS, and we are still independent of both PXC and WDC. The partnership revolves around UNOCS as far as I can tell, but I don’t think we are so closely aligned that failure of any part of the partnership will damage Feathercoin fatally. Feather coin is still it’s own entity, and as long as we work on what we can influence, I think we can ride out any damage we may sustain from any association with any failed coin or idea.
I have gone on record saying I’d like to have had more information on the partnership and UNOCS, and as this has not been forthcoming from the UNOCS developer(s), I’m afraid I have very little faith in it. Do I think it will damage Feathercoin? Possibly. However, I don’t think it will cause any more long term damage that the attacks we have faced, or the difficulty traps we’ve endured, or any of the other issues people seem to have been saying would kill Feathercoin.
Feathercoin is not UNOCS, and will carry on regardless of what UNOCS, PXC or WDC do. If we can benefit from an alliance, well and good. However, I’ll keep involved with Feathercoin and not any of the other elements until I can see a clear benefit to me or the community in doing otherwise. I’ll not shout that the sky is falling if UNOCS, PXC or WDC fail, because any effect on us will only be temporary.
I say we should focus on FTC, forget what’s gone wrong before and work at what we can control, the direction and strength of FTC.
Just my tuppence worth…

I’ll be honest, I’m not digging through this thread. I just want to point out a few things:
1. While *some* people are really worked up… our price is almost double what it was shortly before the NYC Bitcoin Conference.
2. I was just on the PhenixExchange Beta last night (which is tied to the Bridge) testing it… I thought it looked great. Believe me or not… we’ll see when it’s released.
3. I believe most everyone here wants to see FTC succeed, some have other motivations.
4. I won’t make the mistake again of giving dates, I was burned before… lessons learned.
5. While people are still up-in-arms around here, this team secured an interview Bushstar did with Bitcoin Magazine. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I just wish more time was spent on actually producing. This is my opinion, take it for what it’s worth.
6. You’re entitled to your opinion, but so am I.
7. This is a brand new partnership that will take some time to shake out. In the meantime, please see item #1 and enjoy the profits while we get things moving in the right direction.
8. While PhenixMike works out wrapping up the Bridge/Exchange, Bush has proposed changes to the Phenixcoin itself… that’s part of the power of this partnership.
9. This thread will continue, people have been more passionate about this than some of the initiatives I’ve tried to launch in the past. That’s one reason I don’t plan on putting the same hours moving forward. I’m still here to help… but wow.
10. I’m getting back to work… next stop for Feather, .002 stable.
11. Would be happy to talk on the phone, heck my name/number is public… there’s some critics, great, come out of the shadows and let’s hash it out. Drop me a PM.
12. There’s no doubt we’ll be over $1 with Feathercoin… hopefully you do to.
-
I welcome your statements but one point has to be cleared … is Mikey the victim of reputation damaging???
If its so we should do something … in the name of truth for one of US -
I have a problem with all of this… first item one the coin was up from a PUMP by fontas pure and simple. Only reason they chose it was because it was the “lowest” hanging fruit on btc-e. They chose btc-e because it has the most volume.

3. I believe most everyone here wants to see FTC succeed, some have other motivations.
This thread is about pxc. People are concerned and have a right to be. Dismissal of that concern leads to lack of interest. If I look at a lot the names here the are part of feathercoin community. Making veiled accusations against people who disagree is detrimental to ftc. It makes us look like a closed community. it’s great to have PR but we need the next stage which is transparency. Transparency would have solved ALL these questions.

Dates? Again you refuse read concerns of people. They don’t want DATES. They want status and answers.

Again deflecting the issue of PXC. PXC is the issue. That’s great Bushtar has an interview for FTC but we are still concerned about PXC. Some are concerned about it’s involvement with ftc. These are valid concerns.

Are you endorsing ftc for pump and dumps while trying to get businesses to commit to a stable payment system?
We’ve all been here awhile so no one is IN the shadows. Right now the shadows of pxc are the issue. Redirection to other things are BECOMING an issue. -
Just to clarify:
I’d love PXC and UNOCS to be a roaring sucess, I just have not seen anything concrete to say whether it will or not. I don’t consider myself a critic or a doubter, just feel that until I see something concrete that I can evaluate for myself, I will ignore UNOCS in favour of FTC.If when itis released I feel the same as Justabit, I will say so and encourage all to support it, I just have not seen enough information to do that right now.

I’m still smiling over the comment about women rewarding you.
Kevlar, have you talked with iamatrix about setting up an adult site?
Maybe UNOCS is the wrong way to go. Perhaps we could combine the two skillsets of Kevlar & iamatrix to make the new Brazzers of cryptocoin!

With the questions arising over the credibility and long term viability of phenixcoin, one big question comes to mind. Why are we tying ourselves to phenixcoin?
I would like to bring up a few points in a non confrontational manner. If you think I am wrong then please point out the errors.
1. Feathercoin has been recognized by many as the third big coin behind bitcoin and litecoin. This is a big honor for such a new coin and is a testimony to the motivation of people like justabit and many others behind the grassroots movement.
2. Neither Phenix nor worldcoin have anywhere near the community motivation or mining rate that feathercoin has. A quick trip to either of those two coin’s forums shows that there isn’t much going on.
3. Neither phenix nor worldcoin seem to have any great development team putting out “new platforms” that will benefit the partnership.
4. Neither phenix nor world seem to have enough miners to really help prevent a 51% attack on Feather.
So, my final question is why are we partnered in the first place? Feathercoin seems to be the superior coin in all regards. It seems that the partnership benefits phenix and world much more than it benefits us. With these new revelations coming to light it almost feels like phenix is an anchor preventing feathercoin from taking flight.
These are my opinions and I admit that I have neither donated money nor time to programing new services for any of these coins. However, as a miner who must chose were to place my hashes, I think that they are some valid points.
^ My feelings since day 1 of the merger announcement. :-\
However, if it works, it will be a tremendous accomplishment.
So far though, like all of you in this thread, I see no physical progress or transparency (outside of the initial open dirs, lulz) which is the seed of life for this thread to continue.
From the beginning I had a feeling the little bird was biting off more than it could chew at an early age. I hope Feathercoin does not end up choking on that big bite (of ____) it was fed from PXC.
But, we can always Heimlich this bite out of our system and chalk it up to a lesson learned. Then again, we all may look like real assholes if this guy at PXC actually pulls this off.
That being said, I sure hope I’m being a great big asshole right now. ;)

What I am curious about is:1. Who is the developer of the UNOCS bridge and other future services?
2. If it is indeed “Mike” are there other developers working with him or is he working solo?
3. Is anyone auditing or checking on his progress / how do we know he is actually building functional code?
I think these are some important points.
A little googling cleared up 1 and 2.
1. His name is quoted in the media as Mike Burns, aka Mike69, aka iamatrix.
2. It was initially claimed that it was a ‘team of developers’ who were working on Bridge, but it was later revealed it’s a one-man show.
3. To the best of my understanding there are exactly 0 merchants who have integrated with Bridge successfully, making it vaporware and not fit for public consumption, let alone a press release, official announcement, or countdown to launch. Any claims of “alpha testing” (Alpha stage means it’s not yet complete) have not been verified by any community members. I would LOVE for some independant source to counter this claim, so if you’ve used Bridge, to accept payments on your website, PLEASE speak up!On July 30th, Android and iOS versions of the application were announced to the public. On that same day, Justabit also told the public that “…the three member currencies of UNOCS [will] implement Bridge support into their respective clients… With a click, it’ll do the exchange for you. That’s not in this initial release, but that’s where it’s heading.” Today is August 7th.
On that same day, it was revealed that “User accounts are split into two stores of money — one for saving and one for transactions. The transaction account has three types of (virtual) payment cards attached to them: the primary card which is limited by what is in the spending account, a secondary card which which have a daily spend limit, and one time use cards for extra protection.", and Mike claimed that, “…the system has been designed to present as familiar as possible experience to non-technical users.”
Oh, and fiat conversion was also promised “in the future”, and that “we’re doing the necessary licensing/bonding etc.”.
But let’s not forget the single most damning piece of evidence:
[move]You can’t even use PXC to play poker on PhenixPoker.com, which was the reason the coin was created.[/move]
I’ve been there, the tables are all empty. Every single table, 0/10. As far as I can tell, THAT site isn’t even functional, but if someone would like to report their winnings, I’d love to be proven wrong about that too.

I think UNOCS has been a strong PR move for PXC and WDC because they’re weaker significantly than FTC. Market value of their currencies boosted in July and now back to the pre-alliance positions. In other words, the market considers UNOCS defunct.
I didn’t do my usual due diligence when invested into PXC. I expected it to be completed already upon admission to the alliance. It wasn’t obviously. Lesson learned.
When I was at the NYC Bitcoin Conference, most people I spoke to (that are supposed to be in the know) didn’t even realize there were other Scrypt based coins. Now, when we extend that to the general market, they haven’t even heard of any of us yet.
PhenixExchange Alpha released (which will tie into the Bridge)
As mentioned below, Feathercoin is not UNOCS… it’s just one piece of the puzzle. While we bring Feathercoin up to .004/.005 and beyond, I’m sure Kevlar will still point out how bad Bush is as a developer and how I should have managed a large group of volunteers using his methods. Great, looking forward to his fork. Lots of communities have tried to replicate our strategies and success. Obviously, something is going right.
Lots of legitimate concerns. I apologize for the delays… unfortunately we missed deadlines. I’m not playing Monday morning quaterback, still in the trenches for you. If you want to support the coins, great. If not, that’s fine too. I know where it’s heading… I was right with my initial initiatives with Feathercoin, I plan to replicate the same success for our partners.
Look forward to visiting this thread in a few months. I hope everyone’s enjoying the FTC value and the upcoming announcements. :) Criticism I respect, those with obvious ulterior motives… well… we’ll see where we end up. :)
So let’s recap:
Feather’s value -> Up Up Up
Phenix/World -> If you’re not invested, you lost nothing. If you did invest, I’m working hard to increase it.
This is exactly why you don’t see much of me around the forums anymore. I’m focused on adding value, some are focused on the exact opposite.
