Urgent \* Are you still on Feathercoin v0.6.4.4? - Please upgrade.

The Feathercoin client needs upgrading and a few members are still on the old version. (0.6.4.4) of Feathercoin-Qt
Just to thank Uncle Muddy for doing the update guide. It got missed over Christmas and I have only just found it to pin it in [Guides] (under Feathercoin Discussion). It’s great work, I think he deserves some Rep.
Members should upgrade to Feathercoin 0.8.5. There is a hard fork which means Feathercoin will continue on v0.8 development line and 0.6 will no longer connect to the network.
(I will update this post with the block number of last date to update to 0.8.5)
Currently Either 0.8.6.1 where no fork able changes should be made. We do need to stagger fork able upgrades because it is the pool owners and miners who have more work to upgrade and as they process the transactions they are very obviously very important to a successful coin…

Cheers for the heads up… Kinda embarrassing but I’m also yet to upgrade…

It would be really nice if there was an automatic update option from within the client. I don’t know if it is technically possible, but this sort of thing is a PITA for a lot of people and it contributes to what makes crypto un-reachable to ‘normal’ folk.
While at least the announcement of available updates can be made easily within the client, there is an automatic update based on the package maintenance mechanism for some of the Linux distributions already
Hey Rob, that’s a great idea. The client does have a messaging system, which can be used, to alert in emergencies.
Automated update is working for all Suse distributions
I need to figure out, what needs to be done for Ubuntu and Debian, but here a manual action during installation will be needed to add the repositories to the automated update on these distributions.
Later this step can be included in the installation script I hope.
Basically what needs to be done is to add the software repository containing the installation package to the trusted repositories for the distribution.
This should be no problem for an experienced administrator, but could be a problem for the average user. -
I’m on 0.8.5 beta. ;D Cheers.

I think it just distinguished the versions, at this early stage.
All’s good if you update now.
I’ll check the compile guides are right, again.
