Shocking Tech-fail from politician!

If I could translate for him.
“I declare tor and all cryptos illegal. Anyone supporting these networks are clearly criminals and should be dealt with as such”
Damn. Good luck with that mate…
We need a national and international response to clamp down on this illicit trade.
Double damn. That line alone is a clear sign that he is butt hurt beyond comprehension…

I think he’s heard about Tor

We have some cabbages in charge here I can tell you. They haven’t a clue and technology has left them behind. They like to make pronouncements to make it appear they are up to speed then get it so embarrassingly wrong that they make fools of themselves because its obvious that they know nothing more than a few buzz words.
He comes from the same ranks as another utter fool who tried to make an issue out of frapeing, she actually though people were getting raped on Facebook, that was after she demanded some sort of chip to be installed in games consoles to limit use to two hours per day.Its like living in an asylum here >:(

This is only about one thing, money.
This guy sees his tax base under attack.I guess he sold his bitcoins below $10.
I genuinely think you give him more credit than he deserves. He’s heard a few buzzwords and wants to sound clever so he’s put out a press release without actually knowing what he is talking about.

Reading that article was as entertaining as reading /r/dogecoin sound off on Link.

It’s been pulled. Anyone keep a copy?

Is/was he piggybacking the Mozilla discussion that was happening yesterday? He didn’t know what “open source” meant so he Googled it and got bad info?
Why don’t these guys have a tech consultant on retainer to keep from embarrassing themselves?

Are you folks seriously surprised that a politician say things without having a clue what they’re talking about? :P
Here in sweden we’re getting pretty used to it, after all our legal system convicted the pirate bay to a punishment about ten times as high as a rapist could ever get here :P
We see and hear things from politicians more or less on a daily basis here that are based on pure nonsense and faulty assumptions on how technology works (the pirate bay get’s convicted for piracy but the delivery companies goes free if someone sends drugs via them, even though it’s in principle the same thing).
in a decade or two the incompetent idiots will either rule the world and ban a free internet, or they will simply be dead and forgotten :P

As an Irish man I’m ashamed of my government. Idiots like this making stupid statements, basically just saying shit for the sake of saying shit, he just wants a bit of air time!!! I think they are underestimating the generation of people they have to deal with now, all tech savy who understand how corrupt the Irish banking system was and still is.
For me, after all the crap we have had to go through since my government guaranteed the banks and the IMF took over my country, something like what this idiot is talking about would be the final straw for me.
I’m so angry right now!!! We have idiots like this in our government.
