A good week for feathercoin
-
I want to be quite conservative in the design. I know there are risers and custom cases but I prefer to build just plan PCs.
So this is what I chose:
Case: Aerocool Air Bench Table. It’s a damn good piece of metal, perfect for keeping everything cool)
CPU: AMD A10 6880k (I like this one since it has an AMD 8670D inside and I can use it to mine just not to leave the CPU doing nothing)
Motherboard: FM2A88X Extreme6+
RAM: 16 GB Corsair
HD: 500 GB SATA III
Power Supply: Enermax MaxRevo 1500 W
Graphics Card: Sapphire Toxic R9 290X
I want to put three card for every system. I don’t want to combat with electrical problem, mainboard troubles and so on. I prefer to spend something more to buy a couple of systems more and work with stable systems.
I’ll put Linux on them and I’ll use SSH to adminiter them all. That’s all

let’s eat the dogcoin alive.
Looks like the historical doge fun was sent home with the fireworks! People are getting sober from Christmas as well.
Somehow I’m curious what made FTC mining increase so much and even eating the BTC-e ‘‘walls’’.
That sounds fairly decent, I will be using windows 7 on all my rigs! do you not think 1500w power supply is a bit much? I am only using 1000w power supply units… and about the power thing, I will have to get an electrician to come and sort some things out as turning on 13Kw’s of equipment may overload the main power supply to the house… maybe you should do so also just to be sure? :)
-
I found 1500 W power supply which costs less than 1000 ones :-).
By the way I don’t have any electric trouble since I’ll put all my machines inside a datacenter in Swiss. It just has 1 Mw/h power so it’s more than enough :-)

wait what a CPU that can be used to mine since it has 8670 inside it? I am wondering if I seen that correct and if so what is the hashrate for it

@DarkAngel: A10 6880K is an APU (in fact you need a mainboard with FM2+ Socket not AM3). It’s a Piledriver chip (you can find a review here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/a10-6700-a10-6800k-richland-review,3528.html) where you can find a 4 CPU cores and a 8670D GPU. It’s not a skyrocket but you can reach something about 100 Khash/sec in scrypt.
Better than nothing ;-) -
I actually have a asus M2N-SLI motherboard in this system I am about 95% sure it runs FM2 chips but if im wrong someone feel free to point it out. I was actually in process of buying a new cpu just cause the one in this system has been getting used 24/7 for last 4 or 5 years doing calculations for the SETI @ home program " got to find those ETs lol "

You wrong. Your mainboard is an AM2/AM2+ ones.

I guess back on topic, this has been a good week with some capital growth in FTC; however, we do have to realize that we/the coin are getting passed up more and more it seems by other coins growing in market capital at a faster rate, value, etc. I remember a month ago FTC was around 5 or 6 in the list and now it is as 13, e.g. worldcoin, megacoin, and primecoin recently blowing past FTC by a good $5MM between FTC and the next up…
What can we do to get and stay towards the top in these still initial phases, stand out more, professionalize the look, increase adoption, etc are our main obstacles.

I think a FTC/USD market on BTC-E would make a big difference.
-
I don’t think they are going to do that… I have also tried to ask them.
Yeah I’ve sent a request for that enhancement to be added as well; told them I’d prefer it instead of sending over from coinbase every time.
Yes it will be much more easier to trade FTC without looking at BTC price, I also sent a request to add this.

Stocked up an additional 20k FTC today with its price at 0.0005 of BTC :P
I’ve faith in this community… -
Probably just 1000 that I mined myself with my GPU :P
Ok, this is why I bought the 20k FTCs outright… I was, was about to pre order the ASIC from Alpha technology, but a second thought came to my mind…
I did some calculation in terms of getting Alpha’s ASIC to mine vs buying them outright right now. Here it is:
Buy 39,354 FTCs with 12,000 GBP (Instant! no trouble)
VS
Buy 25MH miner for 12,000 GBP. You’ll get 488 FTCs daily starting from 6 months from now.
To get 39,354 FTC with the ASIC miner you need 80 days (488 coins/day at difficulty of 200).If the price does goes up without difficulty increasing a lot, this might well proof me wrong. But the chance of that happening is almost zero.
The mining business is never easy, and its always a loss making at the start. I’m choosing the easy way out here.
-
You are right , now the difficulty is 220 :( , and I have just invested all my coins in 1 month at 1 MHs of cloud mining ( by user FTClover ) , the mining will start from 20 January , first I expected 80 % profit , but with the prices and difficulty rising , I will be lucky to get over 50% profit :( , but is still better than buying my own rig :P
