Hi :) I’m here to do what little I can to work towards a universally recognized non-fiat currency … and because my hardware can handle the current difficulty of Feathercoin :-) I’ve since dug into what Feathercoin is all about and that’s why I’m joining the forum.
Little about me…I’m a small business level IT manager and graphic artist/design enthusiast.
Apologies, I didn’t intend to stir up theological debate in this setting :-) I’ll stick to feathercoin talk from now on :D
Unless the two profitability calculators I tried are wrong, I am slated to get less FTC per day mining than I was before the hard fork :-/

This x100. The only supply problem with currency is that governments can increase the supply of their fiat as often as they want and making everyone that has that fiat have less value. Infinite supply equals infinite inflation equals terrible long term currency.

When I did the process with Litecoin, it was considerably faster to download the file directly than it was for the p2p way to happen.
I just reinstalled the client because I formatted my computer (saved my wallet of course ;)) and wow … downloading the initial blockchain info takes a long time. What would it take to make a bootstrap.dat available for new users? I’ve learned that there are workarounds from [url=http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,4885.msg43883.html#msg43883]http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,4885.msg43883.html#msg43883[/url] but thinking with an eye to the future, it would be great to include downloading the most recent bootstrap as part of the install process to make it nicer for new users that don’t have the knowledge or the access to those use those workarounds.
I say this not as a code savvy developer but as an end user. I realize what I’m saying could very well be incredibly difficult to implement but I thought I’d at least start a conversation about it :)
Rough math says that the same amount of bitcoin for renting can buy you more feathercoin than the mining would get you. Maybe I’m missing a benefit…?
Coming from someone ignorant about what forum software is available and doesn’t use PHP … what would you recommend?
THAT is exciting!! I’ve been waiting for this to happen :-) Buying more Feathercoins has been a chore to say the least
As long as we are looking into changing forum engines and site redesigning, having dedicated and branded Feathercoin Forum apps would be awesome and should help lend credibility to our community.

Surely, we can get donations from the community to purchase VBulletin? I don’t have much to offer but I’d be willing. It wouldn’t take much from each person if a bunch of us chipped in :D
