Crypto Powered Central Heating

So quick question. My place gets pretty cold during the winter, would it be worth me heating my house somehow with crypto miners and how would I go about doing this?

Buy 3 Jupiter Units from KnCMiner. They use around 800+ watts each and should put out around 2000 total BTU’s of heat. :D
You’ll also earn a substantial income so you can afford to pay your neighbors power bill, and get them a holiday turkey. And an operation for little Timmy…

BTC mining hardware becomes obsolete quickly. Video cards are a better choice. I even have two rigs right at my bedroom consuming nearly 1kW*h each. Good winter heaters :)

I will not be paying heating bills in my apartment this winter. Depending on how my new apartment is insulated I may need to actually open windows to let cold air in.

This is my idea:
Water cooled GPUs + 300l solar boiler I already have.
Why I will not do it?
Don’t have money for enough GPUs and water cooling blocks (+ also some copper pipes and pump with controller will be needed) and electricity here is very expensive (0.25usd/kWh).
Seems like this have no meaning for me. But if you have cheap electricity it is definitely idea to consider…+If you want to be super green use some solar panels with microinvertors in grid free setup (http://www.ev-power.eu/GridFree-Inverters/GridFree-Micro-AC-Direct-Invertor-DC-AC-230V-230W-CE.html) to generate part of electricity in the summer :) This have meaning even if you are not mining as ROI is about 7years …

I love the tomato plant idea! I could build a little bio-techsphere.
Also Mirrax’s post reminds me of the early conversations in Bitcoin about how the incentive structure would drive mining in to regions of the world where electricity was cheapest and presumably well supplied. However I don’t think we anticipated how many people have access to free electricty and how many people would take this up as a hobby - and yes I actually do think there are a lot of people mining are doing it for reasons other than money.
Good thoughts, looking to see if we get any more.

[/quote]Solar panels are still expensive and not much reliable. Although if used for mining, one can skip DC-AC conversion and AC-DC back in PSU. Make it straight to 12V, charge some batteries like those for UPS or electric vehicles, and here you go.

I’m leaving my 1.2 KWatt of mining PCs in my front room, despite the noise. It certainly takes the chill off the room, and I’ve put up with it being on all our unbelievably hot summer.

[/quote]I wish on a small scale solar was more cost effective. I am actually planning on buying some property within the next year or two and building a 250KW solar farm. The prices for solar panels are dropping rapidly these days as there is stiff competition to make them cheap and affordable. Depending on how the crypto market is when the farm gets built I may also build a small data center/mining operation to boost my ROI on my solar farm. I love the tomatoes idea as well ;)

This would be really good with a miner.

[/quote]Hmm, good point. You could probably offset a portion of your electricity cost using a water cooling/TEG solution. A quick google search lead me to these guys:

[/quote]Yeah that’s really cool. Then the power could go in to a super capacitor or battery and reused for like powering iPhone or tablet, something like that. I doubt I could put the power back in to the machine without using doing something complicated with a transformer.

Depending on the WATTAGE you get out of your TEG, you could probably go TEG > 12v Car Battery > DC/DC PSU > Components that draw whatever you can give. Not sure how effective the car battery thing is.
