How many feathercoins have been premined?

I see the pre-mined claim for FTC several times a day on the BTC-e trollbox, it will never go away.
They have no idea that these lies just get people to investigate the coin themselves.
-
Thousands of blocks have been mined within the first few hours. The block explorer shows that new blocks where found every few seconds. Is this a fair start for a coin? Who got all those blocks? Mining 1% of all coins in roughly 0,00002% of the time the coin is being mined is considered premining…
I clicked through those blocks and their creators… the 200 coins were always kept for a long time (no further activity) and then transferred into a wallet, which received a huge bunch of 200 coins transaction from those early block generators. Looks very odd to me.
And who is this guy:
http://explorer.feathercoin.com/address/6whca2ZQU7GAk8iqwkMboN94TQuofxpUs2
Exactly one million feathercoins in a single wallet. 14% of all coins so far. I hardly believe it’s an “investor”, who bought all those coins. -
You’re not looking for a discussion, I understand your purpose on the Feathercoin forum.
“Mining 1% of all coins in roughly 0,00002% of the time the coin is being mined is considered premining…”
What about 1.2% at 0.00003% of the time? Did the announcement come before or after the genesis block? You guys crack me up with these debates. You’re entitled to your opinion, however, when you talk about it as fact… that’s where I have an issue.
“I hardly believe it’s an “investor”, who bought all those coins.”
I don’t sit around and try to play detective. I get it, there’s hardcore crypto ‘fans’ that want to get to the bottom of everything. I’ll be honest, I just don’t care. These nonsense arguments waste our time as a community. Your objection to the way Feathercoin was launched is noted.
The early adopters got them. Are they going long? A lot of coins were already dumped. The second attempt at doing that failed. The automated choice pools saved us. Now we begin to kick ass.
Scripts do that. They hold until a timer triggers. Those were not moved individually by a person. No one moves coins 200 at a time repeatedly.
Ok looks like I have to let you know this project is guarded by trolls more entertaining than the trollbox. :) We’re dedicated.
The difficulty was low because Bushstar had no idea the kind of attention it would get.
The difficulty went way up because many people mined it.
The coins that were accumulated early were already dumped.
The people trying to do it again met an unexpected community in which everybody works. Now I’m going to emphasize again: Nothing in this community was produced by outsiders except the exchange. Everything is from here. So if you want to call us scammers you have to reconcile that with the fact that we are building and continuing to build.
The coin is a means for people to get on with their lives. I understand you’re not used to that. Someone else made the bitcointalk forum for you. Someone else made the market for you. You’re like a kid at Disney World. Your parents paid high prices for hotel rooms with dwarves and princesses outside. That’s not how it works here. We built this. We run this. We expand this. And pretty soon everyone will copy us because they have no idea what we are capable of.
I didn’t call you scammers. But you say those things as if you have no intentions at all. You built this, run this and expand this just as a gift for the community? I highly doubt that. You could have just built a community around litecoin, the coin you copied. That would have been an incredibly honorable move everybody would have appreciated. But you created a new coin and refuse to answer why. You sell feathercoin as something completely new and exciting - although it already exists with a different name. That’s what people don’t like, including me.
If you would make an online vote asking what coin will eventually rule the world, the answer would be: Feathercoin! Because everybody from here is going to vote. If you make an online vote asking what coin has to die next, you will win, too. You made Feathercoin the most hated and most loved coin out there in a short period of time. That’s quite an achievement. But I don’t think this scheme is going to be copied, because it attracts too many people who are actively trying to harm you.

JoeMue,
It’s obvious nothing will change your mind. It’s hard set that Feathercoin is worthless in your estimation.
That’s completely fine! You’re welcome to your own opinion. I’m just a bit confused at your belief that competition is a bad thing. I’m sure in your world you wish Apple was the only smart phone, comcast (or ISP of choice) was the single internet provider, and that only one central bank existed. Maybe Bank of America, because it already has America in the name, and it would be un-American to bank anywhere else.
-
Summary: Your Litecoin and Bitcoin community is such a joke we had to use a separate coin to have decent progress.
First, of all you’re not hearing me. We build. Which means we get what we want out of it. There is nothing free, because we get what we want. I want a sane currency, so I contribute to one. It is not a gift, because I get what I want. If I want a countertop to make sandwiches, I’ll build one. You think just because other people use it it’s free. No. I USE IT.
Bullshit. When we tried to build a community, the Litecoin devs literally stole it. They don’t want participation. They want a plantation.
If you’re going to argue about coins, you should know the history. We tried building a hot community where people could contribute. You know what happened? The lead developers created their own forum and cut us off. It is impossible to contribute in the litecoin and bitcoin communities. The developers don’t give a damn, the miners don’t want to build anything, the forum visitors argue all day about conspiracies, the moderators think they are God.
We had an in forum market from day one and the litecoin developers declared their CLOSED forum to be the OFFICIAL forum. They ruined their own chance to shine. Who the hell wants to wait for them to wake up to the needs of the average person? Oh yeah, maybe 20 years from now.
You’re whining because somebody destroyed your fantasy world. Litecoin is a ghost town full of people who have no spirit or initiative. There is no excitement there. All you guys care about is the exchange price and your precious video card tweaks. You have not built anything for anyone to be excited about.
The bus passed you by. You killed Litecoin and Bitcoin with your inaction. Deal with it. We have an open door developer policy here. You have no such thing.
Thank you for your sincere concerns about our future. The only people attacking us are people who wanted to be treated like Mining-Gods. Can you stay on the community if no one wants you?
Can you stay on the community if no one appreciated you?
Can you stay on the community if no one will assist you?

Can you stay on the community if no one wants to listen to your idea?
Feathercoin had to start with a difficulty of 0. Just as LTC did as well. The fact is that many many times more people were mining and knew about crypto currencies than when LTC launched. Sure the big miners will clean up in this situation and take a lot of the initial coins. It’s not a pre-mine, it’s a fact of life. Live with it and carry on either advancing crypto currencies or trading for profit (whatever your motivation is). But seriously, listening to the trolls and the negative people at BTC-e helps no currencies at all it just drags us all down.

Every person in this community is valued by the community, be it the Developers, the Artists, the Musicians, the Marketers, the PR, the Pool Operators, the Miners, the ones that go out of their way to help others out & write tutorials or gather information regarding exchanges and further adoption, the ones who do continued research into ways to better and strengthen our community even further, hell even the ones who beat down the narrow minded rhetorical trolls are… We are a community, we are one.
FEAR THE FEATHER
-
IMHO, the current single biggest difference between FTC and LTC, other than the community, is the “limited slip differential” of a maximum 41.4% change in difficulty at retarget time, coupled with shorter retarget intervals.
I find it difficult to see how FTC is considered a straight copy of LTC, when we have introduced changes to fix problems not experienced by LTC, as it was started at a time when there was much less awareness of cryptocurrencies and hence less chance of wild swings in difficulty.
LTC has also failed to let their community know whether they are looking at options to make the system more robust in the face of attacks, such as 51% attacks. They may be, but have not communicated this. The FTC developers have been making it very clear that this is one of their priorities and are keeping the community up to date with what’s happening.
We should lay the myth that FTC == LTC-Hashrate to rest.
FTC != LTC

Your need to answer the question why a create a new coin leads me to believe you don’t fully understand its benefits.
Lets explain that with an example.
The Ford Model T, a car, one of the first mass produced cars.
Now if car manufacturers didn’t create new models (or copies with changes) of the Ford Model T, everyone would still be driving the Ford Model T today.Copying a coin and changing it here and there, its digital evolution.

For starters I am not even sure what timezone Bitcointalk uses now, let alone back then, as if I remember correctly the server locations (IP’s) were changed around the beginning of May.
TBH Forum time has never been my preferred choice for time reference, I much prefer to set my watch by UTC as does the Feathercoin blockchain. ::)

I don’t know if the original poster is even going to reply now (or if we scared him off), but here’s what I think - for the record.
A lot of us are new to cryptocurrency, like me. I thought it was awesome. But when I looked at the Bitcoin and Litecoin communities (actually I had difficulty ever finding a Litecoin community!), I found them very selfish, greedy, and unhelpful. They seemed to have the attitude “Don’t talk unless you’re already rich in Bitcoins and have a cool rig.”
Maybe they’re nicer than that. But that wasn’t my experience.
I’m here because the Feathercoin people are nice and helped me get going. Right now, you have be a pretty smart techie to get started mining, especially if you don’t have fancy hardware. Over here, they made it simple to understand and they always respond quickly and positively.
People like me believe in an open source world. We want an open source currency. Bitcoin and Litecoin have become something for “the elite.” (super fancy hardware, expensive prices to buy in, etc) We younger people don’t like that. We want something for everyone, even after all the coins have gone into distribution.
FTC has a free, open, and helpful future because the developers believe the same way.
That’s actually a really good point. I was new too, trying to determine what ltc pool to mine on, still plodding around bitcoin faucets, gave up trying to mine bitcoin pretty quick, seemed there was too much info and not enough guidance.
I had no idea what cgminer was nor did I really care, I was still trying to work out what it was all about. And there I got stuck reading the bitcoin talk forums.
And by chance I saw the feathercoin thread when it first appeared. And as I was reading, I still had no idea. Why would I stop mining ltc, I thought, and get on this new thing… there seemed so many other new coins, floating around… but just for the sake of it, I decided to download the client and read.
read, read, read.
As there was a growing interest, it seemed to be right. so I learnt how to configure cgminer, and looking back now, it’s funny how I didn’t even realise that I was learning more about crypto currencies than I’d ever thought I would. Not because I intended to, but because I got involved in FTC and with everyone else who was drawn to it, was compelled to do as much as possible.
For some reason, it didn’t strike me as a gimmick, even though I thought I was still just doing it for the sake of it.
Over time, I found myself not just interested in how it works, but seeing it succeed. And then BAM, the community exploded with support, devs, leaders, people engaged full time in doing what they could.
And that’s when I saw all of the haters crawl out of the woodwork. Ahh the jealousy was palpable.
So while I can’t personally offer much more than contributing to the network hashing, I feel as if at least I’ve been supporting it from the start. I can’t code, draw, persuade or sell anything… But regardless, whether we fly or get plucked, I feel committed to the end.
And I know we’ll succeed. The ddossing proved to me beyond a doubt that we can handle a shit storm. The feather will weather.
So, when I see someone come along and say “Well what is good about it?” all I hear is “What is good about it for *me*” and I know that people will, selfishly, only be interested in what they can get for free. Even if it’s nothing more than the glib joy from denigrating something they’re not even slightly interested in.
Hell, google Feathercoin. It was not long ago, you got google trying to fix the obvious spelling mistake for you. Now you see a different story.
I’ve learnt more about this whole thing by being involved with this coin. Even if I never made a real life dollar in all of that time, I’ve taken something good and unique from the experience. Wishy washy? Ha. It’s a lot better than being someone full of seething anger and hate who can’t wait to find fault and kick kittens in a rage. :)
This community alone, is worth the time and effort. Just look around. If you can’t see that, it’s because you’re not interested in looking.
