Feathercoin - New Features - What Would You Add?
-
I think it’d be convenient to have some sort of optional user tag. For example if my address label was [Aysyr], if someone was to send me some FTC, when they put in my address in their client, it would resolve that address to [Aysyr] and show it on their end. That way, it’ll let you know you’re sending it to the right person. I know even if I get the address right, I still sometimes get paranoid it’s not going where it’s supposed to be lol. This way it’ll take off some of that uncertainty.

That would actually be reasonably easy to set up copying DNS essentially.
Just have a network of servers with the database that can be queried or written to from the clients, with suitable checks in place obviously.
-
here is my 0.02FTC worth of an idea that no one has done yet with any client.
This is regarding the install and setup of client. A new option to allow you to install anywhere not just in C/ drive for the program but also the app/data folder and you can install this anywhere you want including a pen drive. This will give you more security over it so you can stick on your pen drive anywhere you go and plug in update blocks and network or take somewhere with you or have it as a easy mobile wallet :)

great idea crazy earner i’ll +1 that…
and to add to that, its not just about wallet features. its mainstream efforts too. need to make it super easy for the silver surfers (granny generation)
-

Vanity address generation.

Merging of pooled mining and wallet. Just bring in CGMiner’s code. Move the settings to a dedicated preferences page. And while your merging mining, make it one button to hit a p2pool: type in the address of the p2pool and port, and press the start button. No more worrying about copying and pasting addresses around to make mining work.

Web based wallets, Blockchain.org style.

Coin mixers/tumblers to remove taint from the transaction log.
-
I would separate mining from transactions. Let it be simple enough and make sure it’s focused on preventing wallet theft.
Let the miners download a proper interface for mining. Otherwise you’ll have critical bugs in one context preventing improvements in the other.
Now maybe we should do a nice interface for mining. That’s a different thing.
-
PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS:
Add a balance calculation after every entry in the transaction ledger. Also double entry mode.
Yeah, I can get behind that. A guiminer that doesn’t just look like a bunch of boxes and has all the Feathercoin pools populated via a web service. And an auto-register button so you can put in your info once, press a button, and start mining on any pool, since most pools use the same interface anyway.
Great idea! And add in the auto-card setup … https://give-me-ltc.com/configs

I’d like to skin my GUI…doesn’t have to be elegant, but would be pretty! Kinda like the option gmail has?
-
Get the pretty colors down(GUI)
SEPERATE the miner from the wallet. Excess software a person who is using it for payment doesn’t need. We don’t need to focus on mining ease but more on transaction ease.
Vanity address generation through a subscribed database. Create a proper naming format and be weary of jeremiel.dumba$$.com naming…
3 click donation clicking from webpages.
Ability to put ALL feathercoin data into one place to make it portable. I would love to have my wallet on a thumb drive. -
Great ideas!
It would be nice to have someone with programming experience help organize the suggestions and start soliciting code. Oh, what do you know, I have a position available for that one. :)

A wee bit off topic but im a n00b and this does have to do with FTC. I wish that this community could have a help chat box which could be like the trollbox on BTC-e but full of knowledgeable, helpful, FTC enthusiasts who want to see this community flourish

Ah indeed, so the users don’t have to go themselves to the hidden AppData folder. -
I have been meaning to look at this, as I have 10FTC still on my phone, I knew what would happen if I left them there so I left them simply because I foresaw this as a bit of a challenge :D , FTCVanity is pretty much finished now bar a couple of known bug fixes, so once it’s done I’ll see if I can find a work around for this… Do you know what format the file is in (I have not looked yet)? Is it .dat? If so this would be quite easy to sort…
Ok just had a quick look, it is in fact a .dat file…So tbh I would just forget the app for now and send the coins to your PC wallet before the Fork.
But if you insist on importing them, it is just a matter of getting the .dat to your PC - I emailed mine tbh as it only had 10 FTC in it…Then backup your existing wallet.dat in %APPDATA%/Feathercoin/ and then move both backup and original to a temp location (or simply rename bak1.dat & bak2.dat and leave where is), then copy over the App wallet.dat which is named by the feathercoin-wallet-keys-date-it-was-created.dat (ie: mine was named feathercoin-wallet-keys-2013-05-22.dat), rename to wallet.dat and open the client up…Job done…But like i say just send them via the network NOW before the fork! Much less hassle :)

Not only do we need other programmers for this team, we need someone that can help sort through all the posts and make sense of the different community recommendations. Anyone up to the task?
