Undervolting is awesome.
It took my 4 x Sapphire 280x’s from 1250w at the wall down to 1100w, no loss of speed and each card running 5-10 degrees cooler.
I wasn’t brave enough to go below 1.075v per card, I’ve hard of guys going lower but I was happy with that…
brave enough? there’s nothing to damage, if you undervolt too much the cgminer will crash, you reboot the computer and raise the voltage a bit until you find the lowest stable voltage the card will work on.
i’m running my cards 1.03 to 1.08 (powercolors), 1.125 (sapphire dualx), Gigabyte is the best one with .
I actually have one cgminer instance for every GPU, since if one instance crashes I only have downtime on that instance. Also, I use separate workers on all of them so I can pinpoint issues via pool statistics (ie which card is not working). You can’t have different pools/workers on one cgminer instance.
but even with that, you need to list all per-gpu settings separated by commas, or the next cgminer instance you are starting assumes that the settings from it’s cgminer.conf apply to all the GPUs.
As opposed to mining more profitable altcoin, and then just trade it to FTC?
The profitability gap is quite wide, I expected it to narrow down due to people mining other altcoin and trading it for LTC, but it is still unreasonably wide.

I used a bitly link for the picture - thought you would all like to see the stats for which country people clicked from.
Quite an international community !

If anyone finds this creepy - I will remove the picture.

The $/khash is too high for this, and resale value is very low once it’s outdated… its worth it only if you got expensive electricity. 2nd gen will probably be much better, if the algos might be changed to fight that…
disregard this post, I mistakenly quoted my previous post instead of editing numbers
with undervolting to 1.03 to 1.07 i got 180-200W (edit: this is wrong, do the math from my 4 GPU rig numbers)
these are my figures, measured at AC output, so actual DC figures are at least 8% less, or more on cheaper PSUs.
4 GPU rig 1000-1050W on AC side, seasonic 1250W
3 GPU rig - I forgot, but I run it on Enermax 860W. Find my post where I listed it on this forum
2 GPU rig - 450-500W corsair CX750
mobo+cpu+ram+disk with no GPUs - around 80W.
Undervolting saves a lot of power, and heat, Full voltage at default value wears GPU fans, clogs them with dust faster. Undervolting is absolutely a must, and it’s unreasonable to run the cards at full voltage. It took me a few restarts /gpu crashes to get the optimum voltage, so it’s pretty easy. The difference in temperatures is huge too. I think mine would run at 95*C and throttling haven’t I changed the thermal paste to Gelid GC extreme and undervolted. It’s a whole different world now.

So how long will it take to mine feather coin meaning when will i start seing some profitable in them??

Current scrypt mining ROI is about 3 months for new rigs. Not taking into account difficulty increase. If you go in it for the long term it’s a gamble with big risks and huge potential gains. For more info Google it or provide some input parameters.

GIGA R9-280x @ 1050MHz at 1.05v~1.075v w/710~720kh/s
4 GPU = 1050w AC on seasonic 1250w
It was 1400w AC at stock volt - 1.2v.
So almost the same numbers. I got one of those gigabyte 280x and I got best results with 1065MHz GPU clock.
I’m thinking about adding a 4th GPU to the rig powered by 1050W seasonic, should be enough, and it’s got 7 year warranty.
