It is sort of annoying, that if someone worked on an entry that was harder then the rest he gets no credit for it, but if someone spends 2 seconds on a bad joke they have a shot.
When Virgin Galactic won the Ansari Xprize they didn’t have to hope others would also attempt maned space flight. They just had to get the job done.
The $1000 number was easy to find, but you worked hard to bury this rule that saved you having to pay out.

Coin Profiles: Feathercoin: Can it float to the top in the age of the Altcoin?
Feathercoin was introduced in this thread on April 16th by bushstar on Bitcointalk.
Lets get the specs out of the way first:
SPECS:
Three letter nick: FTC
Uses scrypt (LTC clone)
2.5 minutes block target
504 blocks to retarget difficulty
block reward of 200 coins
Total coins: 336 million
It is basicly just a Litecoin with a 4x production rate. However, it does have 2 advantages over the latest influx of coins. It release over a month before most of the new coins so it was able to build a bit more of a user base. Also, it has a team that is pushing it in different ways, like with his thousand dollar giveaway.
As of today it seems to be in a good position to survive the infant stages, but I think it is purely dependant on it support team not losing interest.
With this article I am introducing a new feature: The Survivor Rating. This is just what we think is the chance that the coin will survive with exchanges and support for at least a year.
Survivor Rating: 80%
I think FTC will make it through, but it will be worth a revisit in 6 months are so.
