RE: New Exposure for Feathercoin?
Great thought. What action do we take as a community to ensure that happens?
You know what I saw in the last 48 hours? Dogecoin Tips being handed out in massive amounts to people on Reddit who have posted about losing coins on Gox. A very calculated and ingenious strategy.
Not saying we should do that - but it’s definitely another great example of why Dogecoin is moving so fast. There are some seriously smart kids/people pushing it. It’s got the added bonus of a low valuation, so vast amounts can be given at low loss.
That and the Jamaican bob-sled team sponsorship thing. It didn’t go as planned, but it still did so much.
Maybe we need to brainstorm some more low-cost initiatives. I know Chekaz is on point with donating to game channels. Uncle_muddy’s Prostate donation is pretty great too. I’m sure there’s even more great ideas waiting to be put into practice here.
I agree. Check out this move and exposure: http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/26/tech/innovation/dogecoin-cryptocurrency-tech-irpt/

Government issued crypto - FTC's place in this hypothetical
www.fxstreet.com/analysis/daily-pfennig/2014/02/19/
Guy’s talking about a scenario where China is potentially some day utilizing either SDR’s or a gold-backed renminbi to counter USD inflation.
Anybody think we see a small country go completely crypto in the next few years - a state sponsored digital currency mandated for use? The government would have to issue a new coin obviously pegged to their current fiat currency until perhaps eventually it was their new crypto coin pegged to another crypto.
How would FTC react to this scenario? How would it take advantage? Would it be the middle man currency between this country doing business with the rest of the world? The “bridge currency”?

RE: Bitcoin's Transaction Malleability - FTC's Short Term Solution
Are you offering to fund this endeavor? Do you have 4000+ BTC worth of coins to give away?
I never said the amount of the coins. Clearly 4000+ “worth” of BTC is not feasible. But I’m happy to give 2 FTC to any one who has been affected by this malleability issue. I suggest others here do the same. Get the coin out into more hands. Get it in front of people. From there “value” will be added to our community - value in the sense of support. This is an opportunity for us to turn aid into long term value.

Bitcoin's Transaction Malleability - FTC's Short Term Solution
Most who find interest in cryptocurrency would agree this is a phase. What if in the meantime FTC publicly offered FTC reimbursements to those who claim they lost BTC? It would get FTC trading in more hands only increasing value and PR. The value gap between FTC and BTC would close fairly quickly.

Someone needs to hurry up and make FTC/USD available ASAP!
And this? coinmkt.com
The only way I can see FTC emerging here is if something is added on that make’s it stand out. Don’t underestimate the innovation and evolutionary platform here.

Its looks a good idea. It is similar to some things we are considering anyway.
I think it tries to address the wrong problem.
People are not going to spend these coins - any of them. Like an implanted memory of their own to coin Blade Runner the success of BTC is completely tied to a memory of it’s success at this point and we need to act accordingly. The Well addresses one of the issues, but perception is good old marketing. If FTC had a Super Bowl commercial would our value shoot up if not only for the reason of perception? The Original protocol for currency was a metal and a piece of paper. And people built off that and got creative…

Opinions?http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/1wc0sr/why_arent_we_discussing_implementing_kimotos/
I have no issues with it and from all I’ve read it’s well designed. MaxCoin will be implementing it as well.
Is FTC going to have to implement ‘something’ like this to defend against ASIC super mining? The way this add on was presented here made it sound like it was imperative to maintaining an alt’s protection in the near future. Or perhaps we’ll get nice super miners that won’t cripple our coin.

RE: Feathercoin - 0.8.5 - Alt-currency updates - possible patches to note
No one replied to this? I’m curious what people think about Kimoto’s Gravity Well also. FTC mentioned in that context here:

RE: Serious issues with feathercoin and my suggestion
Nice discussion. I’m not wild about the potential float or O/S (or O/C in this case) but that’s a narrow-minded view I guess. What IS a supply number when there’s no applicable, true ‘demand’ defined just yet? Uses are abound…
FTC’s future, take your pick - won’t take much (considering the bright side of these phenomenons as it pertains to our growth):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowball_effect
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_feedback
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clapotis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_condensationFTC is much more than a coin. And it’s not a currency, hence the current market perception. FTC is the newest commodity called “Innovation.” And naturally there is doubt attached to that though this perceived risk can be mitigated. All it takes is one proprietary hedge or add-on…whether this applies to current FTC coins in circulation or those not yet mined…

RE: When will FTC come back?
I think this orders are from Coinmkt itself, it should attract people to get USD into coinmkt.com - because why should anybody sell at 0.26usd if the actual price is 0.29usd? That makes no sense at all :) - Anyway, great opportunity for whales to buy in.
Could be, who knows. 30M FTC out there, how much of that is freely trading and where is the determinant of where we should be.

RE: When will FTC come back?
@ChrisJ: I totally agree with post #30. It is strange how few people want to spend their feathercoins to help build the coins value. There are a lot of coins out there that could be spent. I believe it can skyrocket in value like BTC eventually but it needs merchant adoption first. I am developing a site that will allow people to buy goods and services with FTC as well as LTC and BTC. At this point I haven’t had any hits on my previous attempts to accept FTC for transactions. I’ve sold lots of items for BTC on the other hand. I know the price is depressed at the moment compared to November, but someone has to spend in order to help show awareness for the market. I don’t want FTC to be another coin that is only used for arbitrage between exchanges. I would gladly spend my FTC hoard if there were merchants that had realistic prices and goods/services I can use.Rob
Spending the coins isn’t the problem in regards to it’s volume. There were huge FTC whales on every exchange that trades it. Currently, on CoinMKT.com for USD however there are 30,000 coins up for sale at every cent from .26-.34. This type of behavior will relegate us to nothingness. If you want to know how BTC got to it’s levels just look at it’s history. (Hence, it wasn’t because people decided to spend BTC)…
