I believe BTC-e raised the requirement to 100 after the 51% attacks a while back but now that everything is running smoothly, maybe one of the Feathercoin devs who’s dealt with BTC-e in the past can petition to have it lowered? 100 confirmations is really annoying - you have to wait half a day before you have access to your FTC.
Every single organization on the subpoena list is based out of the US.
At this point it’s obvious that if your business has anything to do with cryptocurrencies and has physical ties to the US then you are just asking for trouble.

I believe the overwhelming consensus was “YES, please add Zerocoin!” and the devs are indeed looking into it with the hopes of integrating it into Feathercoin in the future.
While I certainly don’t think Bitcoin is dead, I see FTC hitting $1 well before BTC approaches $1000.
If FTC adopts Zerocoin, then I think $1 will just be a short pit stop on the rocket ship to the moon.

Not necessarily - adding Zerocoin would be the equivalent of having a mixer built right into the Feathercoin client. Blockchain.info, the most popular online wallet, already offers this service but for a 0.5% fee! They are a legit company and are operating legally.
I think the way it will be promoted is extremely important. For example, recently a new drug site called Atlantis started up and they released a You Tube promotion video where they cheerfully explained how easy it is to get “dank bud” using their new site. I think thumbing your nose at the law like this is never a good idea.
Simply stating that the cryptocurrency is now “100% anonymous” would be just fine (and legal).

+1! Anonymity != criminality. It is obvious that people here want Zerocoin implemented because they value privacy, not because they are scheming to launch criminal enterprises.
When I hand over a bunch of fiat bills to pay for something, there is no public ledger that gets passed along with those bills for all to see where the money came from and where it went, for all eternity. It would be nice for a cryptocurrency to finally have that same advantage.
I can’t help but think that this thread has contributed to the run up in price… as of right now, Feathercoin is the only cryptocurrency considering Zerocoin adoption.
If the devs decide it’s a go and announce that Zerocoin will at some point be adopted into Feathercoin, I have no doubt that volume and price will skyrocket.

It is my belief that we are fast approaching a time when people will quickly learn the importance of having an anonymous store of value outside of the traditional financial system. Silk Road is not just about drugs. Silk Road is about the freedom to buy whatever the hell you want with YOUR money anonymously. Cyprus was not about wealthy depositors taking a haircut. Cyrpus was about governments showing their hand - they believe it isn’t YOUR money in the bank, it’s theirs.
By adding the Zerocoin protocol to Feathercoin, people will feel empowered knowing that they and they alone are in control of their money, free to spend it however they see fit, shielded from the greedy eyes of people who believe that what’s yours is actually theirs.
One just needs to look at the public outrage over all the spying scandals to realize that ANONYMITY is a huge concern for people all over the planet. TOR brought anonymity to the Web, and I sincerely hope that we adopt Zerocoin so that Feathercoin can bring anonymity to money.

That’s exactly why I recommend making it an optional add on or an option inside the client - that way it is the individual user who decides whether they want to use the Zerocoin anonymity feature, not Feathercoin.

I myself unloaded a bunch of LTC so I could get into FTC. That was at 0.0009, so I’m already happy with my decision :)
Primecoin may be another up and commer, but I firmly believe that the first coin to integrate Zerocoin will be the cryptocurrency superstar! I sure hope it’s Feathercoin as this is the best crypto-community by far.

I sincerely believe that being the first cryptocurrency to integrate Zerocoin would quickly make FTC the number one coin. As the Zerocoin creators stated in their “manifesto”, it’s time to return to the original vision of Bitcoin, and that is a system for anonymous payments.
The BTC world seems to have done a complete 180 where now everyone is busy bending over and grabbing their ankles to appease ridiculous alphabet soup regulatory agencies worldwide. Know your customer laws, forking over all your personal info to open an account, Bitcoin ETFs, etc. - if I wanted that garbage, I can easily keep my money in fiat and visit any one of a million traditional banks.
Adding Zerocoin as an optional add on is the best thing that could happen to Feathercoin. Users who don’t want to use it won’t have to and those that do will flock to Feathercoin as the only coin where complete anonymity can be obtained. By making it an optional add on, the choice for anonymity is on the user, not Feathercoin, so Feathercoin has nothing to lose and a lot to gain!
Hi all, I’ve been lurking for a while now and finally made the leap into FTC. I am currently diversified among BTC, LTC, XRP and FTC. I decided to get into FTC because I believe it has serious potential to be the number one coin, especially if the developers implement the Zerocoin add on. There’s a great sense of community here and the developers are very open to feedback from users, so I think FTC’s popularity will soon skyrocket.
