Someone announced on bitcointalk a new coin, FinTech Coin, based on the Ethereum blockchain. Their symbol is also FTC. Doesn’t look like the project has much traction though.

RE: Not a new member, coming back in from the cold.
Thank you. I’ve always held FTC and had hopes for it. I like the changes that have been made and the new wallet looks great. And it’s good to be back :)

Not a new member, coming back in from the cold.
I got into FTC way back when it first started. For a short period of time I helped gather information and relay it up the chain. I’d like to get more active in FTC again. Anyway, good to see the market coming alive.

RE: Kill.Me.Now.
I have played sine PS1 beta as well. I LOVE Planetside!
On a side note, I think converting FTC to game currency would be a fantastic idea. That could be the bridge we need to bring gamers into the Crypto fold.

RE: Kill.Me.Now.
Yes I am still complaining :). However, I am happy with the end result. The 4,000 FTC sell is going to help pay for the BFL 60GHZ I have on order. I guess I wanted to start a conversation.
At the end of the day I am satisfied with the outcome.

RE: Kill.Me.Now.
It’s not 3 - 4 cent difference for me. I converted those 4,000 FTC into roughly 4 BTC, and then I used those 4 BTC to buy 6 Block Erupters, which comes out to 1,980Mhash/Sec. Had I waited I would be looking at 2,970Mhash/Sec instead of 1,980. That is what’s stinging me. :)
I started out with 900 BTC when it hit BTC-E, and through mining and trading I got to 4,000. It still stings though.

Kill.Me.Now.
So I sold @ .00104 a few days ago. Didn’t have much to begin with, but damn. Sold 4,000.
Damn. It.

RE: Computer Shop Partnership
Hello FTC Community,i represent a computer shop based in Oxford, UK.
I am interested in offering a few product lines up for sale for FTC. I specifically think that GPUs would be a good start and wondered which models the community think would be most sought after.
If any mods want to talk further partnership just send me a message.
Thanks
Just a suggestion here, I would recommend selling items that can be used to benefit FTC/Crypto production like GPUs Coolers, RAM and so forth and expand from there. As far as GPUs are concerned, the current ATI lineup is great. The 7950 is currently the champ, but 7850 is good too. Also, previous generation ATI products might be available too for a better price.
Below is a link to the Bitcoin mining hardware comparison wiki. Even though it’s for Bitcoin FTC will have similar results.

RE: Technical Solution Proposals
I don’t think we can effectively defend against a 51% attack without being forewarned. We have to come up with a protocol that poisons the FTC well for the attacker and make it unprofitable for him. And by unprofitable I don’t just mean financially.
So, we have to ask why he attacked us. Is it because he just wanted to make some coins or was it to kill FTC off? Or was it something else?
They went after Feathercoin.com which was interesting. What purpose did that serve other than to keep people from checking the forums? Is there a way to spin off the forums to another domain to make an attack more costly for the attacker? Instead of market.feathercoin.com why not featherbay.com? I don’t know if decentralizing the website makes sense or would offer any kind of defense, but it’s worth exploring.
Also we should have a fallback method of communicating, I went to Twitter after I realized the website was down. Regular updates would have been helpful and could have helped mitigate some of the FUD that was being spread out there.
As far as defending against an actual attack, we need hash power. What about some kind of bounty when we are under attack? That would bring people to the network in a heartbeat.
Lastly, at what hash rate are we reasonably safe from a 51% attack?

XFX 7950 Help
Hello, my 7950 is giving me a hard time and any help would be appreciated. About two weeks ago one of the fans stopped spinning. So I called XFX and they responded really quickly. They sent a new heatsink/shroud out and I replaced it. Now, whenever I try to mine and the card hits 75C it shuts down, but the computer is still on. I have tried 3 separate times to remove the shroud and reapply the thermal paste, each time with the same effect.
I now have an RMA number from XFX and will be sending the card out on Monday, but I was wondering if I had possibly missed anything or if anyone else had a similar experience.
I had no problems before the fan died. Any help?

Can you post a link to the google doc? Or do you want me to add to the posting in the forum? I’ll post what I find in a couple of hours.

Idea for supporting gamers and getting them to support us.
I used to work for a company that produced PC components and peripherals. One of my job responsibilities was reaching out to LAN party organizers and offering them sponsorships. It’s been a few years but I know LAN parties still happen. I think we can offer sponsorhips to select LAN parties/events in exchange for exposure. A requirement of the sponsorship would be for them to post pics or video in our forums and being listed on their websites.
I can reach out to these events and set this up, that won’t be a problem if this is something that happens. We will need to determine the prizes and come up with them and the FTC though.
We could offer X number of FTC as a prize, maybe T-Shirts or something else. They will eat it up. We can also offer a bounty if anyone at the event finds a block. If anyone knows how to set up a pool on the cheap we can even offer them their own pool.
I can expand on this a lot more too.
Let me know what you guys think.
