Hashrate is picking up
-
Yes, hashrate stabilizes. But …
At the current hashrate (180 GH/s) difficulty should be at 5.8 to reach our block target of 2.5 minutes. But at the moment difficulty is at 94 (and because of this we only get a block every 40 minutes).
So either one of those must happen to get back to “normal” (finding a block every 2.5 minutes):
- Network hashrate has to go up to 2880 GH/s
or - difficulty has to go down to 5.8. But because difficulty is only adjusted max. %41 per 504 blocks we have to wait for 8 of those retargets.
God or bad thing. I don’t know. History will show.
- Network hashrate has to go up to 2880 GH/s
-
@Radacoin If it were 5 we would be hit with difficulty 2000 in days. And then certain death.
-
Its recovering slowly. We don’t want the profitability to suddenly shoot up and bring in miners en-masse.
For coins with low hash rates, you need a fast retarget. But then you have to say how fast? If it is too fast, like Worldcoin, then it will go through cycles during the day between fast and slow blocks.
Our solution is fine. It would have been great if it was implemented from the beginning, or even when the difficulty was lower. But Bush didn’t anticipate FTC would become huge so quickly; he just wanted to mine his coin in peace ;)

Hash rate is increasing, but why is time per block and time to retarget increasing?
-
block time and network hash is hilarious.
Not sure that it’s even technically possible but i believe that the hard fork should have reset not just the 504 block count but also the current difficulty to a reasonable value that matched the hash rate of the network at that point. This is taking way too much time to reach acceptable values. -
I can’t speak to hilarious, I laugh quite a bit throughout my day but generally not about hashing and forking. Although the joke about spooning leading to forking always made me grin, but that’s another tangent.
Some agree, some disagree… I simply accept. This is the hand we’re dealt with, how we respond as a community is all that matters.

I was really quite pleased with the hash rate / difficulty adjust / etc… . I think we gained about a 35% reduction in difficulty at the last change and only lost about 7% in exchange value. Therefore profitability went up to 70 or so %. If this continues into the next adjustment then it will make things even more attractive for miners.
Again. You can have acceptable values quickly and short lived or wait and have them stable. Time * variation is a constant. This is money printed by the users not money trickled by a bunch of banksters. The users end up with as much responsibility as they get freedom.
We got a spork not a spoon or a fork. It’s the result of all this touchy feelly stuff. The power of the Spork is ever so evident and can’t be ignored!!

This is very good news!

Hope it keeps growing. It has a long way to go. I’m only making 24 of the estimated 106 FTC a day right now. :'(

Please correct me if my assumption is wrong.

No it’s 41.4% both ways.

After speaking with Bushstar that was the impression I was getting that it was a difficulty ceiling change not a floor change.
Huh? What pool are you with? My estimated is only 53’ish off 1260kH/s and I earnt 62 yesterday and so far 41 today (with a block needing 6 confirms for approx another 11) - And this is with wemineftc :o (whom incidentally I have never had any issues with)
AFAIK this is correct Smoothie - both ways.
Relating to block 33,000
After this block the difficulty will now adjusted in multiples of 504 making the difficulty adjust four times faster than Litecoin. The difficulty can change by a maximum of 41.4%.
Link = Tools >> Stats
Without the floor change as well we would have the same flood and then difficulty would never be high enough to prevent a centralization of coins.

Okay thank you for clarifying that.
