Tip Jar
-
Hey guys,
I am interested in making a mobile tip jar for buskers and street performers that works on mobile. I am based in London UK and I was keep to make a prototype in which:
A user can:
A sign up for a wallet online
Top up the wallet via text
Send payments using micro syntaxA street performer can place their Vanity URL or QR code on a piece of card and receive payment from passers by. I was going to use BTC for this but they don’t like micro transactions and the LTC community doesn’t look as keen as this one.
I don’t code (well) but I do design and I am very persuasive and passionate speaker; I am good at getting out and promoting things and I would like to see if we can get some sort of small scale test done in London somewhere.
Please share your ideas and thoughts.
thanks so much

I actually like this idea!
We have a Feature development team, http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=694.0 they might give you some better feedback. -
Idea is great! Not sure why text message though? (I don’t think that has been implimented into BTC yet, I may be wrong though?)
The QR code would be enough already to send/recieve payments via mobile, providing user:Hank updates the Android wallet for FTC in the meantime. -
Premium rate text, takes the money off your phone bill. Just easy to do so that there is no credit card involved basically. The benefits for the street performer would be stats on his donations compared to other performers and could tell them the best places in town for them to perform and at what times of day.

Hey Chrisj,
There may be some overlap with an idea I’ve been kicking around re. paper wallets which would allow buskers/street artists to advertise their FTC addresses without having to use their phone etc.
Interested in discussing this?
Thanks. I would like to make it open source. There is another company called Pika Pay who are doing it on twitter.
Thing is banks are making it easier now to send Fiat money mobile to mobile, M-Commerce, like Barclays ping it and in a way I wonder whether the banks will out innovate these cryptos. Of course they would still have the deflationary element to them.
AFAIK Barclays withdrew their support for using Ping It to fund Bitcoins a few months back (it used to be an option @ Blockchain.info, as have Apple for any Bitcoin wallet related apps, it is safe to say this is a mobile currency war that we are in/heading into.
