Right this whole thing on sacrifice has been keeping me up. It’s now 6am!This is from http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=sacrifice
sacrifice (n.)
late 13c., “offering of something (especially a life) to a deity as an act of propitiation or homage;” mid-14c., “that which is offered in sacrifice,” from Old French sacrifise “sacrifice, offering” (12c.), from Latin sacrificium, from sacrificus “performing priestly functions or sacrifices,” from sacra “sacred rites” (properly neuter plural of sacer “sacred;” see sacred) + root of facere “to do, perform” (see factitious).Latin sacrificium is glossed in Old English by ansegdniss. Sense of “act of giving up one thing for another; something given up for the sake of another” is first recorded 1590s. Baseball sense first attested 1880.
sacrifice (v.)
c.1300, “to offer something (to a deity, as a sacrifice),” from sacrifice (n.). Meaning “surrender, give up, suffer to be lost” is from 1706. Related: Sacrificed; sacrificing. Agent noun forms include sacrificer, sacrificator (both 16c., the latter from Latin); and sacrificulist (17c.).It’s not about sacrifice a better word is surrender. You are not giving up ownership you are giving up control. Because everyone owns the Bitcoin network. When I gave those paper wallets to my friends I wasn’t giving up the ownership of the network, I was giving up the control of my purchasing power and handing it over to someone else.
That’s correct, and it is an important distinction. You surrender your coins when you pay for something. The question I have is do you sacrifice them when you publish with Link?

Very well done Chris, respect! (Davi suggested you should create you’re own show for being such a good speaker ;))
I completely agree. You will help get feathercoin out there and you also have a great viewpoint on the world which appeals/interests us crypto weirdos. Be the publicist for FTC
Not only for Feathercoin, but for the listeners from all over the world, knowledge from ChrisJ brought to you by perfect talking.
-
Excellent Chris, it was very nice listening to you.
-
I enjoyed listening of this show! I appreciate how you eager to understand this world in depth ;)

Watched it now, and I couldn’t agree with you more. I think you made everybody proud. It’s not always easy being articulate on the spot, I applaud you!
I know you said that you don’t like titles, but having something official to present yourself may be an idea. So there’s no confusion when you’re presented. We could have a poll, list titles that matches the attributes of what you’re doing. Vote on the one we like the most.
“Community Leader” is fitting, as you’re doing a great job guiding and inspiring others. However I’m not a fan of the word leader. A leader is often someone who many follow blindly; there are just as many good leaders as there are bad.
Ambassador I like better. http://dictionary.reference.com/:
4. an authorized messenger or representative.
The three main purposes according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambassador1. Protect citizens
2. Support prosperity
3. Work for peace“Feathercoin Ambassador” would be my vote.
And that goes out to everybody else, we are all ambassadors of Feathercoin. Whenever we talk about it, spend it, or mine it. We’re supporting an idea like Chris said in the video.
Thanks so much for starting this conversation. I don’t like the word leader either. And my only problem with ambassador is its connotations with politics. I am ok with Community Citizen or Community Servant though. Your thoughts?
I still remember some of Jabot’s fancy super-titles. One of them was ambassador.
Please do not be ambassador, please ;D -
I agree with the political associations. Maybe something like Feathercoin Citizen’s Representant.
Servants are often employed. You’re doing this for the “ideaâ€, and the community supports that idea.
I’ll ramble a little, so bear with me.
jti8899 posted a video in his thread:http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,6369.msg47439.html#msg47439 The video was about about bees, and I really liked it for several reasons.1. I learnt something,
2. The way she talks about how to resolve the problem. Focusing more on the cure rather than how bad Monsanto and the likes are.
3. The reference to superorganism.
The technical definition of a superorganism is
“a collection of agents which can act in concert to produce phenomena governed by the collective,”[1] phenomena being any activity “the hive wants” such as ants collecting food or bees choosing a new nest site.
My point is; the idea is the superorganism.
So I don’t go off topic, I’ll make another thread and continue there. And it’s more or less how I construe Cicada 3301 as well. No conspiracy theories intended, I need to write it when I’m not so tired so I can word it correctly and address it in a philosophical manner.

I like the idea of a superoganism, that you can join or assist. The more self aligning that is the more the members are sure it will resist overt human manipulation for ulterior motives. But not be oppressive, encourage freedom.
As an example of what could be possible, I developed an idea for an agent program that kept appropriate calculations and recording characteristics in the form of an “ant”, that was spawned automatically and self aligned to the task. Had standard communications between other ants. The main point being it was a system that automatically aligned to the requirements, more sensors, more ants.
For instance - I would like an “open web spaces” where members can go in and update content or try out web themes. Maybe watch 6 members working on a page at once or testing a new feature…
The best versions could make it to the web site, or could be selectable as themes. Or would be available on Github for use by other projects…
Maybe that would start out messy, but instructions and guides can be developed to help people modify a template, use the tools, document on a Github, then offer it for use…
Maybe that tool is already out there and I just missed it. i.e. some Google tools but open source…

I think there could be a lot of different types of the superorganism-model working in all sorts of establishments (making it one whole one?). So we’re on the same page there.
I guess figuring out the best way for it to be structured so it runs logistically smooth is another question. But, we see it already starting here with Feathercoin. Whenever somebody does something that contributes, big or small, online or off, they add to the ethic.
Also it’s already happening in the web redesign thread. I do have some input on ideas for content, I’ll post them there.
