Competitors

Mega, World, and…Quark???
They are not competitors, they’re alternatives. In a competition, one solution benefits when the other solution fails. In this game, a win for any crypto-currency is a win for ALL crypto-currencies.
Take the recent addition of FTC to Bittylicious. Do you think that Megacoin and Worldcoin lose because of this? No way! Making crypto-currencies available to people for ready spending benefits crypto-currencies. The market will decide valuation, but there’s plenty of room for all valuations, and therefore, all coins.
World is more like unformal partner.
To be honest I dont know much about Mega and Quark, have to take a look at those. But as Kevlar said, we do not consider other alt coins as a threat.
I little disagree on this comment. We should not shame the fact that cryptocurrencies are having a competition to get adoption. This competition is against fiat and also against each other. In this early game adoption is the way to get more and more adoption and finally way to become mainstream payment solution. I don’t see room and demand in mainstream level for many different coins, but I hope and believe there will be more than just Bitcoin alone, because one solution’s dominance is never good thing.
Current alt-currency environment is really hostile and one big reason is this competition. It’s not easy thing to find a balance how to work in this kind of environment. From real life the material industry would be good sample about how to handle things. Companies have hard competition of customers, but at the same time these same companies have association to promote their common product area. Currently only Bitcoin foundation looks like it has somehow organized and it is fighting alone against fiat industry and most altcoins just seem to focus to fight against each other. I would like to bring back painful memory of UNOCS… Even it was total failure, it was a little of something that could have been good for whole cryptocurrency environment.

Guys call other coins whatever you desire but the laws of supply and demand are still at play here. If we had the combined marketcap of Mega, World, and the current FTC share then we’d be a lot quicker to the punch. We haven’t even begun to see the amount of ALTs flood the market that will eventually take place and the dividing line will occur between peer to peer and bank-backed payment systems like JP Morgan just tried to initiate with a patent application. Now what if FTC cpuld patent an add on? That doesn’t negatively affect the community but it would put FTC in a unique position relative to the ‘alternatives’. Edit: Does it have to be open source to be deemed ‘good’?

They are not competitors. We maintain the vitality. Do not afraid of any competition and conservative forces and Scissorhands.
But We must ensure that we are not a stumbling block to development FTC. -
dogecoin is going to be next bitcoin…also im going to be next president of United states :P
Short answer, yes. There is no competition to p2peer currency. It whips the floor with “fiat competition” and can’t be human manipulated.
The old system has already lost. In “chaos theory” terms, they have fell of the cliff and are calmly waiting to hit the bottom.
Actually I think they are competitors.
If our goal is just to exist as a currency, just to be out there as an alternative, then you’re right, they’re not competitors.
But if the goal is user adoption and gaining value and securing a certain position in the cryptocurrency ladder, then they ARE competitors. We are fighting for the same resources: users and traders.
Well at least that’s how I see it. -

Yes, it’s not a fake. This bug really did occur. And if you believe it, I have a bridge for sale too. Only 1,000 FTC. Or 60,000,000,000 Doge coins.

Ah, but .00029 * 3900 Dogecoins/day = $1.131 a day or $33.93 a month.
For FTC it is .33 * .07 = $0.0231 a day or $0.69 a month. That doesn’t even pay for the electricity. :)
Hence, I’m mining Dogecoins right now :)
(edit, correct for fallen FTC price)
