Funny thing is, too, the FBI was withdrawing from the account in increments of 324 BTC.
Everyone was scratching their heads as to why this arbitrary amount, but someone on Reddit pointed it out:

The question is; what will the US do with so many Bitcoins?

To be fair, they have the werewithall to simply destroy them, as in destroy the private keys to the wallets, $28m isn’t that large an amount in the overall budget terms, and if it would destabilise Bitcoin they might see that as an investment. Not sure if that is likely, but…
Or they can just sit on them and do nothing until everyone’s forgotten about them and then buy a new pool table for the staffroom.

My understanding is that once proceedings against Ulbright are finished, they will sell the Bitcoins at whatever price.
And since they’re not so smart, it’s either going to be a public dump, or an auction that’ll go to some very rich individual.
