Creating a healthy uptrend - collectively
-
How about supporting collectively a specific ppc, and move the price up that way?
btw, wouldnt it be more productive if the wall @.00101 would move up ever xxx days to increase the ppc and create more interest because of that?
-
I don’t think anything like this is necessary. It could be argued that it would be counter-productive.
Short-term price fluctuations aren’t important. Heck, the price itself really isn’t important. What really matters is that we’re building something worthwhile and something that people want. That will create real value and the price will follow.
-
Always listen to the voluntarist, they know best. ;)
-
A ppc increase couldnt be a fault in anyway, for no one, jmo

How about we always mine the most profitable coin and buy Feathercoin?
This way we
- would end up with more Feathercoin than if we would mine it.
- support the price on btc-e because we increase the “bid” side.
-
Let the market decide whether it deserves an upward trend or not. Trying to influence the price is a bad idea, emanates a feeling of centralized control attempts. The crypto world would immediately label it as a “organized collective pump”.

368k wall moved to 102;-)

A collective decision to do this would only destroy the coin as the network wouldn’t be there to prevent attackers from inserting their own block chain.
I agree totally.
If a coin can’t stand on it’s own without market manipulation and collusion then it’s not worth keeping.
I would like to see no more discussion about artificially propping up FTC and simply get on with making it even better.
erk has said it well. Let’s move back to improving the coin.
No real life decisions are 100% collective. Some would follow the buy-Feathercoin approach, some would follow the mine-Feathercoin approach.
imho some people here are too idealistic. The world is a shark tank. Governments support their currencies. Company their stocks. There is nothing “bad” about it.
We should be at least allowed to think about it.

Fix the coin, get rid of the hopeless diff locks, fork attacks, crazy confirms on BTC-e, and you wont have to artificially prop up the price. Sit back with a lackadaisical approach and you will always be pumping just to stand still.
Fix the coin? Care to be specific.
Get rid of the ‘hopeless’ diff locks? They got us here faster than 70 weeks we were faced with. The diff locks prevented the subsequent overmining that would have wiped the currency.
Get rid of the fork attacks? Would you like us to straitjacket every potential miner and pump them with truth serum? Soft forks, after floppy forks, will get us there.
Get rid of crazy confirms on BTC-e? Yea, because BTC-e is the only way to trade. Also you want to let the attackers get their profit and dump?
Lackadaisical? Sorry, do you even lift?Do not troll a troll. :)

I have 3 machines, 2 dedicated and a desktop. A dedicated machine always mining ftc, one playing chase the rabbit(so I understand the situation better), and my desktop (2x7850) usually load balancing between ftc and some other coin.
I sell off some other coins usually to either get btc or buy ftc. This all for pure experimentation on my part; reading, trying, then understanding. Again this is a hobby… I still haven’t actually bought any BTC with cash.

do NOT pump FeatherCoin.
This is an all around bad idea for basically all the reasons everyone before me has stated.
Be happy it’s at the price it is now and take advantage (i.e. buy up slowly)
You might disagree with some of the decisions but I ** hope ** you’re not aiming the lackadaisical approach at development. No-one is sitting on their butts here, period. You have a very hard line on the difficulty locks, I appreciate that. I just want to make sure we all understand that differences can occur without everyone thinking those that disagree aren’t actively working.
Just because some in the community care to focus their energy in one direction doesn’t mean others aren’t still pulling consistent late nights doing something different.
No judgement, just laying it out.

::)
Y’all haven’t been spending every waking hour for the last… what 4 days catering to my every wish? I’m appalled. :o
Why should I do everything!!??? :'( Which my postings and maybe bad manners!! :o
SNAP SNAP.
I spent good money doing internet things sort of related to a crypto-currency which you are getting my money to do.oh wait…
no one’s paying you except you. Not me.
This for many is their spare time(lives).
This is the START of a project.
Limited resources because?? Start of a project. People are still joining.
Major problem was 4 days ago.seriously people. Expectations. What the devs and community have done here in this short amount of time is amazing. Bushtar and zero are great but let’s not try to put them above “the Woz” and that annoying facebook guy on turnaround. Those guys had major backing btw. Justabitoftime, keep doing what you are doing, the internet breeds impatience by design.
Let’s keep all of our expectations “realistic.” Everyone needs to understand that what this community is doing with feathercoin is actually trying to solve some major crypto-coin problems without the resources of the major crypto-coin groups. They haven’t fixed those issues and they’ve been around for YEARS.
Any community attempt at trying to “purposely” manipulate the market will put us on the same footing as the attackers. I thought we were the better group? 8)
This community like a new linux distro forming. We are eventually going to see whether we will become either Red Hat, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Caldera, Corel, or OpenSUSE of the cryptos.
sorry… this was not directed at any one person… :-[

Can we be Ubuntu? My first and still my favourite, though I work with RHEL/CentOS.
LMAO! I’m more of a Gentoo guy, but i started with Corel…
From my somewhat limited understanding, I believe that price “fixing” is by far a bad idea. Like its been mentioned, having any decentralized cryptocurrency, fixing its price would be like (going back to the Caldera mention, and SCO using the GPL without accepting it) one of the biggest oxymoron of all times…
