\[Project\] Starter Kit to Feathercoin
-
I think this idea will help gain wider adoption of Feathercoin. If someone that is not as technically inclined can follow a step by step process, they will be more likely to start using the coin.
A byproduct of this type of documentation may create increased usage by word of mouth.
-
So well how can we start with this.
May be segregated the sections of learning , and have it easy for every one to access it .
I think it would also be a good idea, if we can have a step by step guide for mining, for those people who never have before,
Easier the learning curve, faster the adoption of the new currency. -
Lots of great ideas. Let’s start here:
1. Who are the expert miners in our Feathercoin community that might be willing to help out?
2. What are the best Feathercoin guides for newbies in our community? -
Yep HAS to be noob and Grandma friendly! Without a doubt! 8)
Loving all the hard work, thought and obvious time you have put into this! Justabitofme! (Jeese thats a ‘keyboard full’ I cant abbreviate that unless just - Just? or Jabom?) -
- I’m no expert but have successfully pool mined LTC on Linux since early January -
- As for guides I wouldn’t know as I haven’t had to look recently…There are plenty of LTC mining guides out there that will work the same for pool mining FTC as it’s just a case of using scrypt and cgminer - But yeah we obviously need one written soley for FTC.

Would you be willing to take on this project? If so, I’m sure we could find additional people around here to assist.
-
I’ll help where I can yes count me in, but like I say only really had Linux experience of LTC & LitecoinD - So probs not the best to lead this project as it’s mainly Mac & Windows - Will we be getting a 32/64 bit Linux-QT package do you know?
Also who emailed you? Can they help too :D And the two posters above?..The more the merrier…

I haven’t had a chance yet to work through the thread, there might be some interesting pieces here:
“Can someone give me an idiot proof guide to mining Feathercoin?”

I have a saying; “Create something that is Idiot proof and you will find a better class of Idiot”
I suggest we start off with a disclaimer before the actual guide:
- In order to setup a miner and understand this guide - You will require basic/medium lvl skills in PC usage Ie: Installing GPU drivers, Knowing what GPU stands for, Being able to use Windows CMD or Linux CLI or Create a .bat file, Know what CMD, CLI and a .bat is - All of this information is readily available on the internet (and then maybe include a few links to various sites that ‘already’ offer this information to be gleaned by the user) - If they can’t use Google and Glean this information for themselves, then - Voila - a better class of Idiot :D

I like the idea of a disclaimer, but I would also suggest making a ‘dummies guide’ down the road to assist those very basic items. I saw this guide in the Feathercoin Informational Thread on BitcoinTalk. For the miners, I wanted to get your feedback:
http://bitcoinboard.net/how-to-mine-feathercoin-on-windows/
Unfortunately, this is not my area.

B. BitInstant.com3. Demonstrate how to navigate Vircurex for FTC
4. Demonstrate moving FTC to and from the exchange

Max keister is suggesting a coupon market that is backed by his millions in a crypto currency.
He makes a good point about deepening the market for crypto currency and gamify it.
So feather needs to do the same.
So starter kit starts in reverse with a game. Try this.
The game introduces feather coin to buy the coupon (that has an expiration date and can be traded for a good or service)
Then the person gets an feather coin wallet and a miner is born.
Joke: Did you hear about the minor miner in crypto currency? They are no longer a minor and have grown up rich mind you.
