The History of Feathercoin

“It’s an imbicile that doesn’t learn from history” @wrapper

PLUS : UNOCs is EXACTLY what I want to DIG UP , very much so. Make sure that doesn’t happen again …
-
Jesus, I could not agree more.
While @mirrax definitely makes a point. I think we are all already focused on the future but …could maybe be more diligent in that area ? (unless you are just Trolling)
But No, @Wrapper is 100% right. Feathercoin should have a timeline.
Having a detailed, logged timeline is the best way to reference the past so you can, in-turn, focus on the future.
+1 @wrapper
it’s also a great way for investors and speculators to see what’s been accomplished, just having something that looks good and can be updated is worth something already.

Just for the record, I am not trolling.
I am all in for creating roadmap. But unfortunately FTC history is walking scam, fraud and scandals.
I don’t think it is any good to dig in this sort of garbage.
It is like very very much negative PR. -
@Mirrax I can’t understand why you are still posting on the forum considering how bad you think everything was?
-
-
I’m interested in point number 2 and 5. According me I think that this two points from history will be crucial for the future.
-
I am obviously want to emphasis the hard work and how much discussion and developments was ahead of their time. Basically because FTC was a much more civilised discussion area for Alternate Currency Developments in particular, how much work such as Ruthie Bushnell did…
It will make a very interesting time line with an agreed paragraph about what happened.
As I say,it is all in the forum to be “dug up”.
-
What about some ideas of what should be included in the Feathercoin Timeline?
We could see by who gets the most kudos for the earliest, most “important”, or how cool / funny : a link is:
Genesis Block
Feathercoin has Identical genesis block with Litecoin
http://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/46/identical-genesis-block-with-litecoin/4Shame we can’t see day? Forum currently just say 3 years ago.
-
As well as use by journalist etc the Timeline would help in other ways e.g…
I have also noted that there is no entry in Wikipedia for Automatic Checkpointing, or Peter Bushnell etc, which means Feathercoin could start getting a mention without being “pulled.”
The Timeline would make it easy to do that…

Here is the genesis block, shared with Litecoin

Just been reviewing the history of Checkpointing in Bitcoin …

PR for whom?
The purpose of a forum is to serve the needs of the forum.
That means understanding and preventing BS like UNOCs.
Remember when BTC ppl discussed sketchy crap in secret.
Let’s not be in secret.
@mirrax -
The main points are there are much “more positive events” to log on a Time-line than negative.
There will only be a paragraph to explain each, so I was already thinking each subject could have its own “sub thread”.
In the end, that might be too much (discussion of history), and that might divert limited resources from future developments.
One idea of the Time-line it would bring New Members up to speed on interesting key events or technologies history or technical details…
There is the original threads to look at if we identify the key ones; which was brilliant work again by some FTC forum members, in converting forums to new systems and retain history is a hard job, with tricky database conversions, plug-ins and theme set- (done twice) …
-
I’d suggest one post with the timeline, either in list form or any graphical format, containing just the head lines, which are then linked to the descriptions or posts containing the details.
-
This is a great idea, I 100% agree. It shows honesty and resilience from the community and that is what is most important. Making the history easy to access for newcomers is an effort in decentralizing the knowledge. It also doesn’t allow critics to own the discussion around the negatives. Also, mentioned above, it will mostly be positive. So even as people investigate the negatives, they will run across many positives they maybe haven’t heard of.
History doesn’t matter to the blockchain itself, it functions great and is well supported and distributed. The openness of the community does matter.

Well said.
Im on the fence about the scams, however. While they did happen I dont see it as a part of the coins history. In some cases it wasnt even FTC that was stolen, it was BTC. Id say if anything, its part of the communities history and the FTC community blends into other coin communities. More of a grey area I think.
-
@AmDD Good point. Maybe the way to present it then is as a positive. A negative thing happened in the world of alt coins, here is how Feathercoin dealt with the problem. Highlighting title is: “The feathercoin solution to . . . . implemented” or something similar.
-
Thanks for the incentive, I’m gradually going through it myself. Plus : The news sheets will do most of the work anyway …
just need a thread link, title and a date, if any one wants to add one for consideration …
