With the fall of The Pirate Bay, I'm taking it upon myself to reboot the FTC portal to BlockchainLINK
-
Just further to coins that might distribute information I’ve thought of some “features” it might have to reduce the cost of mining and make it fair (for its info storage purpose)
Miners are paid transaction fees.
The mining software runs “on Demand”, when transactions arrived they are grouped in , say, 20’s and then available to process and win the transaction fee. At other times the miners can switch to other activity, or close down.
p2pool type mining shares system included, all miners are paid proportion of total fee
There are a few other ideas, but to give possibility.

Great idea wrapper.
On the underground aspect I’m not in favour of stealth tx without an audit key and I’m not in favour of link on FTC. Both are great but do we really want all that negative publicity? I don’t want to be deemed a criminal like the pirate bay hosting was for being involved and using FTC. We are here to develop the technology yes but we must decide if we are willing to Cross these lines.
The stealth tx thing may not be as big a deal yet as we are not the first to do this. But the link thing is a concern.

Doge is just perfect. After all it is already supported in link. Not?
-
I remember reading a thread on reddit with Kevlar, I think there was a bit of a ding dong with members getting grumpy at the dangers. I’ll see if I can dig it up.
-
Doge threw it in his face.
-
I’m thinking we leave ftc as it is for now.
Finish off the core and it’s features, would be nice to have an Audit Key if possible.
If anything people would want compensation in the form of btc anyway. Using ftc as the unit of value as well as the link/BC tech puts more strain on one tech.
After thinking about this again, the platform I envision can’t be built onto 1 technology… It requires interconnected but separate technologies…
Anyways. I shall not speak of it again.
-
No I think your project sounds great but I was more concerned with what’s happening now with the link stuff. If we are going to do this we need to kale sure everyone is on board and make an informed decision (maybe a vote would be fair?)

If people can spend FTC, It will be an interesting application. I will research these functions, after I finish SX.

Screenshots posted on another site by a self-proclaimed eXeem beta tester show a client that incorporates a search function and the ability to monitor downloading files. Theodore Hong, a P2P programmer in the UK, says that whether eXeem materialises or not, someone will find a way to decentralise BitTorrent searching and tracking.

Publish is working but… search isn’t.
Yeah.
Yeah I don’t know why.
-
Okay, so at first I thought that the fork to neoscrypt might’ve screwed up how this works, but I went ahead and threw up a test site for Fedoracoin and search isn’t working for it, either, but submissions are.
Dunno, I’ll keep poking at it.
-
Kevlar told me that it shouldn’t make a difference from memory. Or it was said by someone on the forum I’m sure of it.
-
Yeah, it wasn’t that.
It’s working. Full report when I wake up.
Have I mentioned yet today how much of a goddamn brilliant man Kevlar is/was?
-
Considering who he works with, it doesn’t surprise me.
And he is still very much about. Not in the cryptosphere but he’s still contactable.

Eh, yeah, he just stopped responding to my email back in August, had virtually zero Twitter activity and minimal github contribs so I just figured he was on an extended sabbatical.
The local database that the app builds for indexing the searches is super grouchy when stuff happens around it (I think I ran into an issue after shutting down to clone/backup my work), so I’m having to reindex and then will rerun the app again so that it can build up that information.
At least Feathercoin still has strong full node support; Fedoracoin’s status log for building the index is looking really, really pathetic. So much so that if a small corporation wanted to set their minds to 51%ing it, it might happen, rendering the point of building stuff for it moot. It’s going to need this shot in the arm.
-
hrm.
Well good luck.
Also might mention, I’m speaking to another coder in rl who might come along and give us a hand.
-
please don’t use Feathercoin for this
okay
I got it to work on Fedoracoin. That’s how it’s working right now.
If there’s interest in the feathercoin implementation in the future, let me know, I still have a disk image with all the work saved. Give me a suggestion for a domain name, too, though, since I don’t have anything ftc related.
