Feathercoin Hackathon?
-
brilliant prize . send FTC for the most active members.
-
I like this idea and I think invites to computer groups / clubs in which ever area we choose would work.
-
Here are few ideas for this event.
Tech Idea, Popular smart phone apps to accept feathercoin as payment.
Publicity Ideas,
Major charitys in the Oxford area that we could get to accept feathercoin donations.
We could even hold a charity rent a date auction. Whoever bids the most feathercoin goes on date with whatever celebrity we can put up on auction, could be a media celebrity if we have the contacts or a crypto celebrity, all raised coins goes to a charity.
A feathercoin Lotto Prize Draw could be held at the event, with either prizes or feathercoins up for grabs.

Nice idea / work, it should link to an open online environment for those like me who can’t get about. When I was at University - they were always looking for project for students. An initiative to document on going software requirements or possibilities - send that to Universities with Computer departments and a contact mentor.
Also, there is a possibility to look the other way round. For an scheduled Hackathon already running , and go there / with some possible projects environment set up.
Obviously, that is more suitable to prototyping, than secure tested software.

Good idea for the swarm initiative…start raising awareness by winning some national hackathons ;). How interesting it would be to win one which was sponsored by one of the central banks… :D
I also like the idea of inviting local colleges/universities along to participate, and getting buy in from local charity shops!
Ok, so what’s the next steps? Start small, and scale up? Can anyone ask the Oxford Blue if we can host a 1 day event, get some discount food/drink, and begin to collect ideas? Also, can we add a new section to the main forum page, FTC Hackathon ideas, purely for submitting and discussing ideas?

I plan to speak to Chris @ The Blue about it, I’m sure he will be very much up for it :)
Also, I’m looking into Coinfest UK - will keep you posted.
And the last time I spoke to Entimp he was thinking of something along these lines too, so I think all in all we’re all on the same line :)
Just gotta pull in off :)

Coinfest UK?
-
Yeah, its something feathercoin sponsored when motherlode1 went in Canada and he said something about us being able to hold one in the UK, he is currently looking into for me.

you could also add stuff around the hackathon main event to draw more attention. things like introduction lectures for crypto, how to get your first rig going and what not (perhaps i can come over and show how to build an open rig chassis by yourself ;) )
