Thanks for the replies guys.
@kris_davison, I agree with you on the acceptance part, that is vital on this business. Where exactly are you guys handing the flyers? I saw that you guys were sponsoring the coinfest in Canada but we need to do more… Coinfest is aimed to people interested in cryptos and that are already in. We need to focus and try to get the attention of outsiders. We need to make them curious enough to come to this website and start mining.
It would be great if someone was friends with a journalist and could make him write an article on a newspaper or magazine about FTC.
I will focus on the app part again. A lot of people find it hard to start mining and lose interest in cryptos when there are so many tutorials and steps to start earning. So by having a simple app that all you need to do is Download-Open-Earn, I guess we would have thousands of people joining in. Even if their hardware is not good enough, mining would be available to everyone, both newbies and geeks.
The movie that you guys are making may attract people, but an app like this would attach them to us.
I really would like to hear from your development team if a software like this is possible or not.
@Pryderi, link doesn’t seem to work, can you post it again please?
Thanks ;)

I have not had the chance to hand out any flyers yet but I have a few local shops in mind.
(one is a local sandwich shop that currently does not offer card payments presumably because its too expensive - Prime Candidate?)
(Another one is a local internet cafe that also sells things online. Seems like the techy type of people that may be interested)
Im sure there are others. May have to get my business head on and actually hand them out.
I think it would be possible if we restricted it to CPU only. In fact we used to include a miner inside the wallet when CPU mining was still profitable. (I think Phoenixcoin still does)
To do this for GPU mining would be more difficult as there are so many different types of hardware and drivers etc.
Unless we could do a custom BAMT with drivers and cgminer preloaded? (Ore Two versions one ATI and one Nvidia)
Im maybe not the best person to answer this one tho?

We also need a company like BitPay that will allow merchants to convert their FTC into fiat currency straight away lets call it “FeatherPay”. I dont think there are any companies offering FTC to fiat like this.
I’m sure merchants would adopt a lot quicker if they didn’t have to worry about cash flow problems.

This! Well said. IMO, It’s the last hurdle to adoption.

If you want to move the topic for more visibility, I am all for it. I will have a word with Bush and Ruthie and see what they think of this situation.

@kris so who’s the right person to talk about the app?
@futureproof, cryptsy is doing that soon, right?

Hey everyone,
As I said in my presentation topic, i’m a FTC trader and unfortunately I haven’t been so lucky in the past couple of months because of ftc value… I can’t mine them as well as I don’t have a good computer.
I really think this coin can go far and that’s why I decided to trade it instead of other coins. The thing is, the price keeps dropping - slowing, but dropping - and people are not so sure about coin’s future…
In my opinion something needs to be done. We need more people getting involved and we can’t just sit down and wait til it happens on its own. We need to start promoting ourselves in the right way.
The first thing I think that could bring more people in is to find 2-5 people interested in promoting the coin on its own country and being responsible for it. I speak for myself, in Portugal not many people care about Bitcoins but it’s by far the only crypto know among 99% of the people. Like Portugal i’m sure there are dozens of countries with potencial new users that need to discover FTC. So by having people spreading the word over the internet and answering questions, I think more people could come on board.
My second thought is to create FTC own app to mine the coin. That’s right, create a new app “click and earn” style. No need to config, no need to do anything, just sync the app to your wallet and voila, you’re earning feathercoins!
There are thousands of people that read about crypto currencies and would like to mine, but it’s just too hard and boring for them to read all the steps and config the miner and bla bla bla… If it was possible to have an app like that, it could bring a lot of people to FTC…
Almost a year ago a company came out with an app to use processing power from people’s computers promising 1$ a day… It turned out to be a huge mining pool of bitcoins, but with such a user friendly app… People only needed to open it and earn, no complications, and guess what, do you know how many people were using it? more that 0.5 millions!
Third thing, feather coin needs to be on the media to catch people’s attentions. So maybe sponsor some events would be a plus and promoting FTC own events would be also great.
I’m not sure if my suggestions are reasonable or not, and if they are possible to be done, but I would love to hear what you guys think about them.
Best

I think many newbies to the crypto technology have one concern (apart from keeping the wallet secure).
Where can i spend my coins? Many look at the limitations BTC has and will be far more reluctant to invest
in a coin with less users and less places to spend. If Feathercoin could definitely be exchanged on this site
for bitcoin then you could very well attract miners who no longer see BTC mining as profitable but have the
hardware to mine alt coins.
There are so many coins on the market that it is extremely hard for newbies to know where to go outside of
Bitcoin… i myself have taken a long time to join this forum and that was due to my trust in the people involved
as opposed to monetary value.
perhaps the lower value of Feathercoin could be promoted as a good reason to start buying but the exchange
idea would probably encourage people to ‘dabble’ in alt coins
