[Solved] Feathercoin Wallet will not stop sync...
-
Hi All
A newbie question… i have been trying to sync my wallet for about 3 days now and it just will not complete and get to the 100%.
I have a 10mbit connection and no probs running other traffic consuming softwares…What to do ?
It says:
67.8% done, last block was generated 75 days ago, 61 active connectionsThx in advance…

Actually while i was writing this post the number of remaining blocks went from 43166 to 43169… isnt it supposed to go the other way.

Hi engelengel,
this is a known issue with the first sync of a wallet.
Just stop the wallet and start it again, and after a short amount of time the sync should move forward.
An increasing number of remaining blocks happens time by time, if your client receives updated information about the block chain, indicating, that the total number of blocks has increased. A new block is generated every 2.5 minutes so the ttal number of blocks increases all time.
Normally the wallet can keep up with this, but in your situation the wallet sync is slower than the blockchain. This will not happen, if you restart the wallet and it starts to sync at normal speed again

Hi again and thx for the quick answer.
How often should i restart it ? - i have been turning it on and off every 12 hours with no result.
-
I had the same issure I restarted my wallet 4 times to get it synced the first time, but since the blockchain was downloaded I’ve not had the problem again.
there is no fixed number how often you need to restart, but the full sync should last not longer than about one hour, if you have a decent connection to the Internet.
I’ve checkdmy wallet about every 10 minutes and restarted whenever it was stick at the same block for longer than 10 minutes. -
Hmmmm still stuck at the same spot… i have even deleted blkindex.dat and blk0001.dat to start all over again and its having no problem reaching to the same spot which is about 66,9%
Have closed and opened the wallet everytime its stuck but it just aint coming further than this point (block 87947).
I have transfered som coins to the wallet from a miningpool and as i understood they are somewhere in the chain and will not get in the wallet before its synced.
Thx for all help but really need a hand to get the wallet synced… ???

Yes, the client is a peer to peer network, you need to build up a list of connections. You are downloading the block chain again because of deleting the old one.
This problem appears to be network connection related, I have never suffered from this in about >25 test blockchain downloads.

FINALLY !!! ;D
It was a matter of installing the correct wallet software - me dumb :-\
I had installed a wallet from another site than this and it just wouldnt sync - after installing from feathercoin.com and restarting 3 times it is now 100% synced…
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL
