\[Kickstart\] Thinking to sell custom mining kits with option of replaceable GPUs
-
You’ve got my attention so far.
-
I have to look at the overhead costs. But I think this is doable.
-
I think this might be a good idea, especially if there’s someone out there who wants a tested, ready to go mining rig and has the cash to pay the premium for it.
Issues I see:
- Shipping Costs
- Shipping insurance to cover damages
- International shipping?
- Customer care can be a bitch
- Finding fucking cards on sale
- Finding the perfect margin [not too much, but still profitable]
- A kickass logo
I propose a name:
Zeroware Mining Rigs Co. -

Build it into a 4U case. If FTC is going to thrive it needs to be scalable. As soon as I get some cash together I’m going to build a proof of concept.
-
How much do you want for these rigs bro.
I’m looking to build, test, configure, and duplicate mining setups. I have specific and general ideas for them. I’m wondering what my costs will be and how to offset.
-
how to offset the price, if you are going to offer mining support for these rigs, and you also have faith in feathercoin value, why not give discounts to those who purchase the rigs, and a percentage of the coins mined goes to you? if not then they pay full price.
maybe you would have to create a way that it sends them to you without anyone being able to interfere with it, maybe it’s not even doable, is just a thought i had.

I think there is a market for it. For less tech savvy people it could be good. But as others have said, finding high end AMD cards in this day seems hard. I work for a computer hardware and support supplier and as of the last two weeks its been very difficult/impossible to source high end cards from our usual suppliers. Even 5970’s that i have purchased 2nd hand on ebay before for about £100 are as much as £300 and few and far between. I guess no one is selling 2nd hand cards since the profitably has gone sky high.
The whole point of my business is to skip the tight market. With these rigs, multiple mobos and cheaper cards achieve the same as one mobo and high end cards.

Now I’m with you on this one!
19" mountable, draw from the front a pump all the hot air out the back.
I own a small engineering company based in the West Midlands of the UK, venture I run with my farther a mechanical engineer with 50+ years of experience in many fields under his belt. and have already started the drawings ready to be made into a prototype hopefully before the end of the year, for just such a machine.
We where thinking along the lines of a 6 card rig, running from a single MoBo, PSU, Fans, BAMT on a stick, comes to the end user with everything that’s needed to mine with the option of with or without GPU’s giving the user the option of choice depending on budget etc…
UM

Sounds good to me, seems like a lot of people are having similar thoughts, it also crossed my mind.
All setup and ready to go. BAMT done are ready, just plug and play.
Looking for a distributer in California? I’m here.
-
I’m looking to do assembling, sourcing, producing, distributing.
The work:
Assembling: build different rigs which achieve the same targets: performance, longevity, operating cost, or sourcing availability.
Sourcing: select from available mining equipment those that can hit the assembly targets.
Producing: come up with use cases for these mining rigs.
Distributing: deliver a mix of rigs to locations so that there is even access to different mining equipment. The fundamentals:
Location: Build where you can sell.
Distance: Sell close to where you can test and reconfigure.
Capacity: Feed the market both product and parts.
Visibility: Distribute where people will use and improve the product. That’s half of it. Working on the other half.

Hello zerodrama
What you are considering and thinking about is what I have been wondering about ever since I found out about Feathercoin. I want to be mining Feathercoin, but I have a huge disconnect to the realty of me setting up a mining rig. Even though I should be able to. I have been hanging around computers since "97, but have not applied myself to actually learning anything useful about them. My bad. Nearly everyday I ask myself this question. Buy or build?
Since, for all practical purposes build is a huge huge leap for me. The buy, plug and play sounds great.
Should I buy one thousand or more Feathercoins at this point or should I invest up to $2,000 dollars to mine them.
I think you have a market out here in the want land. With a detailed DVD that should explain most of the needs of the new operators.

You wrote-- Do you want power or money?
I am not sure of your question. In a broad sense, if you have enough money, you have power.
If in regards to the “rig build” I would like to have both. Ha
But realistically I would like to be able to make it worthwhile, or cost effective, or not at all.
Just buy some Feathercoin, rather than spend money mining each month for a loss over time,
Makes sense to me. I am sure you have the numbers that support the level of entry.
Thank you for your reply.
