Why I got in to Feathercoin
-
Money should make everyone better off not just the few. I didn’t get in to Feathercoin to get rich, or to buy my coins at a low price while nobody was not looking just so that I could sell them to someone else for more later on - these coins are for spending, giving & lending.
I believe in helping the 6bn unbanked people in the world with little access to finance. My commitment to this project is to help bring Feathercoin to everyone not just the geeks and speculators. See @Feathercoin on Twitter, see the Kickstarter idea, the Feathercoin Global Map we are working on.
“In the short term, the market is a popularity contest. In the long term, the market is a weighing machine.†-Some smart guy
I still have my coins, feel free to check my wallet below on the explorer. I didn’t get in to this for some short term profit so that I could stand on the sidelines hurling abuse while someone else did the work. If you want to have some impact this is a great opportunity to get involved with a team who care.

Well said. I like your attitude very much.
On the other side if you see obvious price manipulation, why not to take advantage of it and earn some money?
I dont see nothing wrong on it, buying and selling only, pure trade ;) -

The real opportunity here is to get the right balance between the short term and the long term and I don’t know how much you know about markets already but based on what you said you might like this guy who does a pretty good job of summing it up http://youtu.be/HI5DxXV7sMo?t=20s
The manipulators do three things:
1. Accumulate stock (usually when the market is quiet)
2. Manipulate (by releasing information)
3. Profit Release (sell that stock in the strength their words created)If you want to play that game remember you are swimming with sharks and everything you know is exactly what they want you to know.
Yes, 2 days ago fontas did fake 1300BTC order on FTC buy side and removed it after 5 minutes :)
It was impressive… -
Hi Chrisj, thanks for the video link, I worked in business so I agree.
However, we have a btc-e chart on our forum. When I looked at that, because someone made incomprehensible comments on a “big whale” there were a lot of comments on ftc going down and the like which I found a bit offensive. Hardly a civilised coin exchange shop you’d want your Mom to visit.
I came into Feathercoin as I wanted to help start crypto currency, I noted there was a Geek level, GPU start up stage. After that I got messed around by some coins, others weren’t been developed and others were outright scams…
I mostly liked p2pool and from there was started to look at which coins were supported and which had the most open forum. Unfortunately, all the Bitcoin derivatives were already on the ASIC mode. From my understanding their investment in the GPU stage of Bitcoin led to the investment in producing and running more efficient ASIC miners.
I did not actually think I would be able to GPU mine for so long, or get so involved in the forum. What I originally thought, 4 months ago, when ASICs come out, GPU miners would move from Bitcoin to Litecoin and Feathercoin.
This has happened to a certain extent, but not as much, or as quickly as I thought. This looks like its because Bitcoin miners, once hooked to ASICs see the GPU as inefficient, and switch it off and don’t turn to mining alternative coins.
I think also, psychologically, when they own Bitcoins, they have an investment to maintain and supporting alt-coins “reduces their investment” This is an incorrect human assumption based on our animal history and evolutionary pecking order mechanism where putting someone down, raises you up the pecking order.
It may also be that there have been delays in ASIC production that means GPUs have been left mining Bitcoin.
Anyway, I don’t mind the other things happening, but I’m supporting the start of a new open source decentralised internet currency, at the moment that is still Feathercoin.

Bitcoin is “the smart guys” coin that talk a lot at events.
Litecoin is “the arrogant guys” coin that talk a lot on forums.
Feathercoin is Peter Bushnell’s[sup]*[/sup] coin that others talk about at events and on forums and they all contribute to the direction and success of Feather.
^This is why I snuggle up to the Feather every night.
These are not the only reasons, but they are the core reasons that got me to look into each coin further. My personal observations and due diligence lead me to invest in all three, but put my heart behind Feathercoin.
Ultimately for me, character and direction were big issues. I did not like what I saw when I opened the curtains cloaking BTC & LTC’s “direction”, yet I felt at home (which would explain why I feel comfortable enough to complain) when I pulled back FTC’s curtain (thank God they were wearing clothes).
This is a pretty simplistic reason for why I purchase and spend some free time with FTC; there are many more reasons that I’ve either already expressed in trollbox, here or elsewhere that can be easily referenced if desired.
Good thoughts Tuck. So that’s interesting what you say, could you talk a bit more about how you went about ‘drawing back the curtains’ of Bitcoin; what was it that you saw?

I would love to hear from more people here about why they got in to Feathercoin? Please speak freely.
I did nothing special that I assume most participating on forums/trollbox haven’t done themselves. I listened, read, dug up dirt, sought opinions from respected individuals, asked questions, tested markets, befriended opposition and gained as much knowledge as I could before making a decision and planning ahead based on that information.
If I come out and say publicly exactly how I will be acting with any certain coin, it serves no real purpose. I could be lying to manipulate a market. I could be telling the truth and thereby manipulate the market. I could be dead wrong and still manipulate the market or, more likely, no one even cares what my opinion is (other than you) and I’m therefore giving you inside information[sup]*[/sup], which wouldn’t be fair.
[move][sub]*Bitcoin will die (without a major change) within 3-5 years.
*Litecoin will die (without a major change) within 3 years.
*Making a major change to either coin will adversely affect the market.
*Bitcoin and Litecoin dev’s have openly stated they have no issues with ASIC.
*Bitcoin will be regulated and the dev’s will assist in every way possible.
*Bitcoin will be the NWO’s [s]bitch[/s] greatest conquest (if not inside job).
*The NSA is monitoring all Bitcoin (all crypto) transactions.
*Google is the NSA.
*Charlie worked for Google. lulz
*Do you think Litecoin will attempt to avoid any form of regulation or anonymity if pressed?
*Feathercoin is the only coin seriously considering Zerocoin protocol before it draws attention.
*Feathercoin is already looking for an alternative to ASICdeath (some call it centralization in a form).
*Feathercoin dev will fight the NWO.
*Look at this community! Nothing can destroy this coin, it’s more like an idea than a coin!*And lastly, Feathercoin has Peter Bushnell …
[/sub]
[/move]So, no Chris. I won’t expose my thoughts on the matter publicly for those reasons.
:) I thought the same thing at first, then discovered Firefox doesn’t like it at times or it’s the short URL causing it to not show. I think most can see it under IE.

ANC is heavily looking into zerocoin with development towards this goal.

The only reason I started farming FTC was to make money.
The second reason I started farming FTC was Bushstar’s philosophy and the community that he attracted.
One can outgrow greed when faced with purpose.
