Feathercoin value
-
I’m fairly new to Feathercoin and cryptocurrencies in general and just started mining Feathercoin with two 7850’s but I was wondering what would be the factors that cause Feathercoin to rise in value? How much do you guys realistically think Feathercoin will rise or fall in value over the next 12-24 months overall?

I like the management. It’s active as is the community. It’s very grass roots and many new ideas are implemented readily. The coin was designed and envisioned to be a lower value coin vs litecoin, and used for everyday transactions, so I don’t expect the value to rise particularly high. I think it may hit 10 US dollars within a years time, as I can see that being the logical cap for the structure. Also Advanced Checkpointing should secure it’s future as a stable area to store value, so price fluctuation and movement will be more like a bond vs a stock.

Hey guys,
I am said management, thank-you for your kind words :D
First off this market is very volatile, most coins are manipulated because they have such a low market capitalisation that it is easy for anyone with a few thousand $$$ to play god and make pictures on the charts. So in short term it’s a popularity contest but in the long term it’s about being right.
For me profit is not the goal, it is the result of being right. Which is why I am pleased to hear you are focused on the long term. I try to keep the community up to date with our progress like here:
http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=3530.0And we always want to hear your feedback too so that you can be more in control of your investment. Mining is not just a way of making money it is also a duty because you guys keep the network running and healthy. You will not be taken for granted here.
Any questions, shout out.

Feathercoin the technology has a long and strong history. The problem is twofold at the moment:
1. A rotating cast leadership who consistently takes the community down damaging paths of centralization, broken promises, disenfranchised community, and wasted effort.
2. A severe lack of feature develop and organization leading to stagnant and obsolete code bases that cannot compete with new offerings. -
To be fair to Chris, he’s been nothing but stalwart in his work on FTC so far and to imply that he is part of any perceived “tak(ing) the community down damaging paths of centralization, broken promises, disenfranchised community, and wasted effort” is unfair.
I say let him do his thing for a while and judge him on results.
We may none of us agree completely with everything done so far, but for the good of the community I think we should support Chris and help him and Peter to guide FTC to where the community agrees it should go.
ACP was a suggestion put forward, debated and (broadly) agreed on by the community. You were vocally against it, but the majority felt it was a good thing. When a majority decision is reached, we should all work to support it to the best of our ability. If we think it is wrong, that is fine, when the majority agrees on that, the issue can be revisited.
One thing is certain. Community infighting will NOT enhance FTC value.
I think a healthy amount of criticism is called for. By all means debate fiercely when ideas are put forward. However you are correct in saying once an issue is decided people should keep to themselves - unless they can demonstrate clearly why something is still a very bad idea. If you don’t have proof then you’re just shouting against the wind.

I absolutely agree, and I was not suggesting for a second that criticism was not welcome. However, there is a very fine line between criticism and robust debate, and personal attacks, flamewars and FUD. We have to be careful to stay within that line without resorting to censorship, and that is something we Moderators are very serious and careful about. What is not acceptable, and never will be, is constant negativity when our specific view is not accepted by the majority. Sniping constantly from the corner is corrosive and achieves nothing. If the community as a whole decides to adopt or go along with a certain direction or course of action, the majority rules apply. Debate and discussion is fine, but when a decision is made, the community should either work along with it, or hold their peace, and not constantly take every opportunity to rail against what they see as a wrong decision. If they have other ideas, by all means propose them, but if they do not get the devs and majority’s backing, leave it be.

Thanks for the answers! I would be thrilled if FTC went up to $1.00! I didn’t just get into mining for the money though, I got into it just as a hobby and a way to potentially get away from using Federal Reserve Notes all together. Hopefully soon people will start accepting other cryptocurrencies for rent, groceries, gas etc and not just buying stuff online.
