AMA - New Partnership Brand - UNOCS
-
Please ask any questions concerning UNOCS. We will do our best to answer them in a timely manner. This is a new shift for Feathercoin, we couldn’t be more excited about what’s coming down the pipe.
Q1: Will attention be moved from Feathercoin to UNOCS?
Absolutely not. My primary focus will always be centered around helping push Feathercoin into the mainstream. UNOCS gives us a pool of talent to share contacts, talent and resources to make sure we all succeed. The alt coin landscape is changing, no purpose coins are being pumped out on a daily basis. It’s important we work with strategic partners to move ourselves out of the niche market. Once we roll out some of the advanced merchant services, it’ll be much easier to interact with small businesses and JoeUser. We can accomplish more UNOCS than any 1 coin could accomplish alone.
Making Feathercoin a stronger product ultimately helps everyone in the partnership. Each coin has their principles and those people work together on a daily basis to accomplish common goals.
Q2: how will this affect the ease of being a merchant with one of the 3 coins?
Merchants will still be able to accept any combination of coins from UNOCS. Right now, the biggest challenge for merchants is dealing with wallets and coins. Here’s some challenges:
1. The merchant needs to be tech savy enough to understand wallets, synch/rescan issues, blockchain explorer etc…
2. The merchant needs to wait for confirmations of the coin sent to the wallet
3. Finally, if the merchant isn’t a crypto die-hard, what do they do with the coin once they receive it?The services we start introducing in less than 2 weeks starts addressing those challenges.
Q3: Heard anything funny about the announcement?
I heard someone refer to UNOCS as the Hall of Justice with Super-Friends coins. Whether that was meant as a poke or compliment, we had a good laugh. :)
Q4: What is UNOCScoin
This will be a test-bed from developers of each coin to try new features. It’s important that we continue to focus on coin/network stability while having a workspace to experiment on future enhancements. There is no immediate plans to release a UNOCScoin to the public.
Q5: Curious why you put in the announcement of the forum users names of the talents for each coin, instead of real names. It just seems unprofessional for a big announcement for publishing. But then again you don’t want people know who you really are.
Another great question. My name has been mentioned in different interviews (and all over Feathercoinmyths.com), so I’m okay with either my username or full name. Since I’m the 3rd, I prefer using my username. I don’t think grandpa wants to hear some of the ‘fan mail’ I receive from different coin communities. :) Our partners took a stronger privacy stance and I respect that decision.
Q6: Why not just get rid of the 3 individual coins and create 1 combined one?
One ring to rule them all!

(slight profanity cut off at the end of the 15 sec clip)
Each coin is targeting different markets with different requirements. What might work well for Phenix in the entertainment sector might not work well for the partners. While our internal coin will be a way for us to test possible common features, it’s important each maintains it’s own brand.
Some will obviously disagree with this approach, however, the partnership felt it was right for our long-term goals.
Q7: Where’s my coin!! I want to mine something new.
I saw a comment in chatbox that said something along the lines of, “UNOCS isn’t for the day trader, it’s for the long term investor”. I’d agree with that assessment 100%. In a week and 1/2, we already announce our first major service.
Q8: What a minute, I thought Leathercoin was a testcoin?
Leathercoin is a project by one of our members to test different approaches to security and the overall blockchain approach. UNOCScoin is a coin used between the 3 development teams to examine possible features to integrate in the future. Leathercoin will be a community lab environment, UNOCScoin will be be development team focused.

Keep them coming. I’m answering as quick as possible (email, pm, forum etc…).
I have to agree to this on some points. For webchat(forum etc nick are ok)
But for official aproach towards buisnesses real names should be used imo -
My name is public, all it takes is a read on Coindesk or Feathercoinmyths to get my info. We obviously have challenges to work through as partners, however, we’re headed in the right direction. Once we get past the next few months of service releases, I’ll most likely be the representative and you’ll see my name quite a bit. ;)
I am the only person in the world with my name so i choose not to make it public. I been down this road before
picked up a internet stalker. In the adult community he goes by LC and this guy made me and a lot of peoples life’s
hell for a long time. He even setup a campaign to run for president in 2008. -

Oh… UNOCS? You know that sounds dangerously like Eunuch… Remember how the Wii got ripped into in the UK?
I guess Feathercoin is now good looking and dangerous now. :) I hear ya…

Sounds good. Also sounds like you are starting a business. I actually wish you Good luck.
" There is no immediate plans to release a UNOCScoin to the public. "
On this portion, there should never be plans to release this coin to public unless it is used to replace the other three.Several the posters have a point about names being public. Right now is a big grey area but once any fiat starts changing hands through this group an actual name instead of a handle will have to be attached. A forum post is so so grey area… A website giving out services to businesses? Also, for something to be considered a legitimate in the business world the people involved need to be identified because those personalities are vouching for the integrity of the operation. Saying this guy on the forum over here or go lookup this guy on someone’s website for info about us doesn’t really cut it. Right now it doesn’t really matter but this will be something that will have to be addressed eventually and be a growing concern until addressed. BTW, this isn’t anything negative . This is just a statement of possible concerns/conflict in the future.
All incredibly valid concerns and certainly will need to be addressed by all the partner coins. Right now, fiat is down the road… we understand the considerations, we’ll need to revisit it at that time.

Exactly, I just hate absolutes and being crapped on because sometime down the road, we decide to allow other developers a chance to look at some of the code we’re testing between each other.

Thank you! I feel the approach allows us to still be the newbie friendly creative community we’ve developed from the beginning while also giving us access to options which weren’t on our immediate radar. It’ll be interesting to talk to different Bitcoin centered businesses in the next few weeks at the conference and see where we play a role.
Most likely consultants on alt crypto-currency information interpretation. Of course more and more proof of work/results will be asked. Also, integration through a turnkey environment would be great lead but that needs an actual working model so being able to say you’re addressing within a certain window will probably turn heads. Be prepared for the endless emails of what/if. lol.
