Rules sound fair, anything specific to trading/marketplace?
I.e. What’s allowed and what isn’t, or is it just common sense? :P
Trading Suggestions sounds like a good section. Please hit me with any ideas.

Pretty nice executed forum here! Thanks!

Advertisement of other coins… meh. Can we make that, unreasonable advertising of unreasonable cloning of coins?
Alright community, what are your thoughts? Personally, I’m trying to avoid the cesspool conversations that happen at a few other sites some of us visit. Again, this is your decision… lets hear your voice.

I suggest you don’t make it a democracy. Discussing other coins doesn’t hurt but the mods determine how far it goes. No rules, only Gods.
I agree, if you make it mandatory to agree to the CoC on registration, it makes it easier to police contraventions by Mods

I would say the reason there is a cesspool is because bitcointalk is a passive free market (doesn’t work and never has because someone else has to pick up the work).
As you can clearly see we have an ACTIVE free market. People pulling their own weight.
Maybe an alt forum, with a notice that says:
1. Minimum 7 days discussion before release of new alt currency. Otherwise we won’t use it.
2. Minimum 3 days after release before developers mine their own currency. So people can find bugs without giving freebies to the cloners.
3. Minimum starting difficulty to be decided by community.
4. After 30 days blockchain or storage mechanism must be reset or coins distributed widely with no giant holdings.Premine can be fudged and can even just be an honest mistake so let’s not go there. Don’t use a coin which has a small number of people controlling the fate of it.
We will be using feathercoin here, but innovations might best be done in a 30 day test of a new idea.
I think that standard will pretty much end the JunkCoin, FakeCoin, NotReallyCoinCoin nonsense while making this community an innovation powerhouse.
I was looking for an opinion to even suggest bringing it to the forums. I agree 100%, when it comes to other coins, there needs to be no tolerance guidelines in place. Bashing others certainly doesn’t move us forward… in fact, we continue to receive help and praise from others from different alt currencies. I respect the differences, we need to be a place that welcomes ideas and attracts talent from different areas.

@Justabitoftime an ACTIVE market needs priorities. So yeah. We can have discussions of currencies and people can promote ideas, but the kind of fundamentalist ONE TRUE COIN nonsense that goes on in bitcointalk is just depressing.
I can deal with trolling just fine. Dealing with stupid takes a bit more effort.

Another thing I’m running into lately on a lot of eBay, online threads, cryptocoin forums:
There’s a particular type of seller who gets nasty at questions from buyers who ask for some kind of reassurance that they get the item they are buying.
First rule of business: Satisfy the customer. I’ve made commitments and I’ve refunded large sums simply because there was a misunderstanding.
Second rule of business: Don’t take it personally. The customer isn’t accusing you of anything, but trying to avoid what they perceive is a trend.
Third rule of business: Don’t overreact. If it feels like the scammers from PayPal and eBay are everywhere, look at how much effort everyone is willing to put into the future of the community.
Fourth rule of business: Look at it from the other side’s point of view. Buyers and sellers feel entitled to brick and mortar comfort, but we don’t have that because we are trying to create a way out from under the mess run by criminals. In other words, if you’re willing to look at it from the buyer’s or seller’s point of view when you’re trying to get the best price /product from them, but not willing to do so when they ask questions, then you’re only willing to put in the effort when it benefits you.

Someone should start a blacklist for scammers spammers in the forum to help deter bad
Selling practices on eBay or other platform’s that included the sellers name (handle) on sites such as eBay. Maybe a whitelist for confirmed positive sellers. Before I sell any crypto coins I make sure my buyers have in their past, have bought crypto before I send because I have had buyers say their account was hacked and they didn’t make the purchase. So doing what I suggest saved me from loosing my coins and the money that was in paypal. So I seen there was no other purchase of crypto’s on there recent feedback and contacted the buyer they said they did not make the purchase. I refunded their $ and did not send coins.
Good communication helps. -
