Clean-Up Coming

I was thinking about a “trading” section under “economy” where we could have the threads by ‘zerodrama’. Just an idea, I think it would make it neater maybe?
-
And maybe move “Off Topic” under “Other”
-
Please remove me as a mining specialist while you are at it :o I know basic/medium advanced stuff, but I am no mining specialist :)
Also If anything it should maybe say Linux mining specialist as I am definitely more debian biased. And yeah add a trading section 8), would love to offer my TA daily horoscope :D
Edit: Just noticed you have already removed specialist, thanks! 8)

Had another idea taken from a forum I was/am a mod on that works quite well; what about when a user has had their problem resolved they modify the main thread heading with the pre-fix [SOLVED] ?
Or better still have a mod do it for them?
Then other users with similar/related issues can be pointed there or (better still) find it for themselves… -

I’ll toss in my 2 bits here. Apologies if these suggestions have already been made here or already implemented. To be honest, I’ll admit that I haven’t yet been to every section of this forum so it’s possible that I may be suggesting ideas that are already in action.I was thinking it would be nice to maybe have a couple of new areas available:
- An “Alternate Coins/Currencies” section where people can be free to discuss non-FTC currencies (ie. fiat, crypto, precious metals, etc.).
Benefits of this addition include (but are not limited to):

Offering an area for open and free discussion of any/all currencies would help to display to others, this community’s lack of prejudice for non-FTC coins…which I believe is just one of the many things that sets this community apart from others.

Another advantage to offering an “Alternate Currencies” or “Non-FTC Discussion” section is that it would help to keep people right here on this forum to discuss the issues affecting them, instead of heading off to other forums or websites for discussion, news and info.

The most obvious reason for this addition is simply that it will keep non-FTC focused discussion out of the main FTC areas. After all, FTC news, chat and info is the main purpose for our being here…we shouldn’t be littering up the entire forum with talk of random currencies.
- Advertising Zone?

Perhaps and area where members can advertise their FTC related blog, business or website.

Anything posted that could be considered SPAM would be moved to this section to avoid littering up the whole forum with URL advertisements.

This would help to solve a couple of problems I’ve seen in other forums. One of which I just mentioned (the ad/SPAM litter), it would also make finding LTC/crypto links simple and more organized…no searching through the whole forum for places to use your FTC.

Would also give everyone a place to tell others about their offerings without the negative effect of becoming a nuisance to all. Sort of a “Free-To-SPAM Zone”.
- Tutorials/Manuals Section
This is something that I haven’t really seen in any crypto forum (that I remember or noticed anyway) and for the life of me I can’t figure out why it’s not the first thing that crypto-forum creators think of. It seems so obvious to me.

Trying to learn how to mine was a week-long headache for me. When I first set out to learn about mining crypto the very first -and largest - hurdle I ran into was finding up-to-date, relevant info. I often found myself trying to implement 2 year old methods into 2 week-old programs. Google searching results in trying to piece together scraps of info written over 2-3 years time and trying to turn it all into some sort of organized instruction book that’s useful. It’s time consuming, frustrating and requires way too much trial and error.

From my first day in the crypto-currency world it’s been a mystery to me why I haven’t seen a community forum with a top-level area for posting member-written instructions and tutorials.
That’s all the suggestion I have time to write right now. Perhaps I’ll add some more later tonight. Like I said, if anything I’ve suggested is repeat or currently implemented, please accept my apologies and ignore the suggestion. Hopefully there is something I’ve written in here that can be of use and helpful for the forum and the community.
really good ideas. I think 3. is being worked on ;) -
1. I do like this idea as I am a fan of everything crypto, BUT judging how the alt section over at Bitcointalk has turned out…Would it be wise? :o
2. We have marketplace already but I do like your name better 8)
3. What Markus said :D -
+1 for that ,
With all the spam that is flooding the BTC forum its really starting to effect development , i think FTC is the cutting edge in terms of the Crypto marketing wise so far, so why not take advantage of the BTC loss, as they refuse to organise the spam on that forum under the “älternative Cryptocurrency” section, - why not organise them and take that traffic, it can only lead to more exposure of FTC and the whole market. good idea.
Hey maybe its just me, but i’m not sure you are seeing the big picture here?
more traffic to this website = more exposure to FTC = successfull currency.
when you have the control to direct that information, i really don’t see how that is a threat to FTC?
just make posters go to their correct section.
I’m not opposed to opening up a section for Alternative Coins but it needs to be diligently looked after, flaming and abuse will start to crop up and as long as it’s dealt with and solved reasonably then an ‘Alt coin’ section will sit nicely.
If it’s not dealt with and starts spewing and flicking it’s greasy prints all over the rest of the forum it’ll just cause problems and setbacks. So I do see the bigger picture, I’d be blind not to too be perfectly honest, it’s just that maybe that it’s an idea best left alone whilst we find our feet a little more. As justabitoftime has rightfully said Bushstar has quite a lot on his plate right now with the hard fork and overseeing all the changes and ensuring it’s as smooth a transition as possible.
I believe so too. I don’t think there is any problem with reasoned and honest opinion in a discussion about the crypto-scene. Slagging off and derogatory comments, in any reasonable forum, are always cause for post removal and reiteration of the T&C or warnings as such.
They don’t have to be mutually exclusive. And as mentioned, if it brings traffic to the forums, and therefore the coin, it can only be good.
I’m sure there is passion for a whole slew of alt-coins that some members already have, and I don’t see them with a desire to beat others with their opinions, so limiting their discussions would mean they will go elsewhere… Definitely I can see room for the topics :)
