Scheduled mining
Hi all!
So in my daily job, I have a pc for heavy cad use (2x 7970). I talked with my business owner and he gave permission to use my pc for mining with no cost with only one condition: I can only mine off hours. So good 14 hours of free mining per day!
And now to my question: How can i setup my pc for scheduled mining? My pc is on 24/7 and I want it to start mining at 17:00 and mine thru the night and stop mining 07:00 in the morning. Any way of setting this up? I’m using win7

RE: Best way to decrease hashrate
Simply lower the intensity? That said, I’d just move the machine. Wouldn’t want to sleep in the same room as one, even if it is quiet.
Simple is beautiful, thanks! Gpu clock 1050mhz, memory clock 6100mhz and intensity 12 landed me at 550khs per card with 43% fans and 61C core temps! Quiet enough to sleep with, but I think I’ll move it to livingroom tho (wife didnt want it to our bedroom) :)

RE: Best way to decrease hashrate
Thanks for replies!
I really cant move the rig elsewhere since I dont want it running loud in any other room :D
I’ll try those settings, thanks!

Best way to decrease hashrate
This may seem odd, but I need a way to lower my hashrate. Here’s the thing, I have my 2x X9 R280 rig in my home office, my sister is going to live with my family for few months while her house is being renovated and my home office is going to double as her bedroom. So, my rig is quite loud running fans 65% power and hashrate of 720kh/s.
I’m not gona jump around and strart mining when she leaves for work and stop mining when she goes to sleep. It would be easier to drop my hashrate enough so I need to run my fans only at ~40% and then it will be quiet enough for 24/7 mining.
but how to drop hashrate for less heat? undervoltin? clock speed?
Thanks

RE: Finally the Asus Matrix 280X has arrived! at least some of em
Looks good, thats going to be one kick ass rig! I run my matrix 280X all stock clocks and volts, 720khs @ 99% load, 65% fans and steady 63 degrees celsius with ambient temp of 20 C.

GPU's lifespan when used for mining
This is something i’ve been wondering. Do you have any first hand experience how much mining shortens gpu’s lifespan. Will my card last for 6 months, year, two?
I know that heat cycles are bad, but so is contiues heat.
I’ve been running one asus x9 280r for few weeks now, 700-720 khs with 99% load, steady 63 degrees celsius temp.

RE: Recruitment time!! Mirrax's editable poster focused on new miners
I like the idea! Not be rude, I think the upper part looks little cheap. At least I tend to ignore everything that says “free money”, maybe something more provocative would work better, like uncle sam with ftc logo in his hat saying “we need your GPU” or something like that. But like I said, I like the idea! We do need more miners

RE: Newbie can't connect to any pools
With the same command line arguments?
Yes, and that is exactly what makes no sense to me.
For example, I can connect to give-me-coins:3334 (ltc pool), but if I change the port to 3336 (ftc pool) and keep everythin else the same, no connection, same errors as in first post.
Another thing, I installed ftc client to my laptop that is connected via same router as my pc, instant connection and syncin up. I think there’s something wrong with my windows settings in my pc. Dunno what tho. I’ve already checked firewall

RE: Newbie can't connect to any pools
Got it working now, still dont know whats wrong tho. Only pool I got working is this small pro-tech pool with 3% fee but it has port 3334. fcpool with port 3334 does not work.
