Hey Ghost. I previously had a problem with NSGMiner randomly shutting itself down, even on a brand new rig with a fresh OS install. The 0.9.4 release fixed the issue and had been working great until my last windows update which I believe added the Spectre/Meltdown fixes. Unfortunately it has started shutting down again. Any thoughts, or any way I can help troubleshoot?

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
The new NSGMiner release seems to have corrected the issue. I’ve been running now for over 24 hours with no crashes.

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
I’m glad it’s not just me then. I’m getting around the issue for now by looping the BAT file but it was very disconcerting to have the same issue on a 100% brand new system that I was seeing on my old setup.

Brand new system with an 850W power supply and a 1070 TI capped at 80% TPU and it is still happening.

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Once my new Gaming PC is built I’ll try to re-purpose my old PC.
I’m going to get a platinum rated 850w GPU but probably keep my MoBo and CPU - It’s an old i7 - 2600K so I’ll probably under-clock it. Grab 2 GTX 1060 6 GBs, and do a fresh Windows 7 install. If that does not clear it up I’ll grab a new MoBo and CPU. I can get that all done for ~$800 if I don’t need to swap out the chip set.

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Thanks, I have a 500w PSU, it is 6 years old at this point though. I set the max power to 70% last evening, no effect. At this point I think it’s probably worth building a new gaming PC then turning my old one in to a dedicated mining rig with a new MoBo, PSU, and GPUs.

RAM @ 25% Load, CPU @ 25% load & 60 C.

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
16 GB memory, just passed a 2 pass standard test with no issues. RAM is firmly seated.
I’ll keep a CPU monitor running and see what temp it reaches.
Interior of PC is clean, no cables out of place.

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Managed to capture this error after a restart:

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Hung a few times leaving me with a window displaying:
nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt -g 1 -w 32 -I 12 -o stratum+tcp://s1.theblocksfactory.com:3333 -O <Login Info>
Press any key to continueI just decided to brute force it for now with a Sleep 1 and a GOTO Start to it auto restarts after 1 second.

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Thanks! I’ve made the changes and will see if they help. I will admit that being new to mining that so my .BAT setup was a lot of trial and error until something took.
EDIT -
Just want to make sure this syntax is OK:
nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt -g 1 -w 32 -I 13 -o stratum+tcp://s1.theblocksfactory.com:3333 -O <Login Info>

RE: New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Thanks,
I set a temp limit of 70C and a power limit of 77% and restarted the miner. It was running nicely for a minute at below 70C then stopped. I restarted and it was running again but just disappeared again, twice, as I was typing this. I managed to catch it stop this time - no error, window just closes.

New to Mining - Issue with random shutdowns
Good morning all,
I am new to mining and decided to start with FeatherCoins as my first venture. I’ve been mining with my GTX 970 for about 14 days now over on Blocks Factory using NSGminer 0.9.3 for 64 bit Windows and have managed to accumulate ~65 coins so far without much incident. This is my only system right now, so I set the miner to run at low intensity during the day while I am surfing the internet then set it to run at higher intensity overnight then come back in the morning to check my progress.
Yesterday morning I woke up and my miner was not running at all so I restarted it. This had never happened before, so I thought it was a fluke except now the miner is shutting itself down randomly at least once an hour, if not more.
This morning I woke up to WebRoot alerting me that it had deleted NSGMiner.exe as a virus. This was very odd since WebRoot did not flag or act on NSGMiner when I first started mining. I had to white-list and then reinstall the program. The random shutdowns are still occurring.
Anyone have any insight or thoughts?
GPU is running at 77% TDP @ 73C.
This is the .BAT file I configured and have been using:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt -g 1 -w 32 -I 14 -o stratum+tcp://s1.theblocksfactory.com:3333 -O <My Login Info>
