Well, getting a coin listed on an exchange is a relatively straight forward process, what doesn’t mean that it’s a fast process.

Typically the way to go is to send tickets to the exchange’s owner/operator and request the listing of a coin. If many requests for a coin are coming in, the exchange owners see the demand and a chance of a good trading volume and then they list the coin.

So Gentlemen, select one or more exchanges and if all of you request Feathercoin to be listed, there is a chance you’ll get the owners convinced.

It’s an easy way to support Feathercoin, and no coding knowledge is needed ;)

normally you are removed from the group newbies and added to the group regular member after you posted twice.
It seems that you where removed from the newbies group, but not added to the regular member group.

CheckaZ is right, you need to copy/paste your wallet.dat, before you synchronize with the blockchain.

The reason is, that no coins are stored in yout wallet.dat, but only the private keys of your Feathercoin addresses.
During synchronization/rescan the client searches all transactions for your addresses and adds up the matching transactions.

Only after that is done, you see your coins in the Wallet.

In order to install the Feathercoin wallet and daemon on a Debian/Ubuntu system perform the following tasks:

• As Super user (or sudo) create a file named opensuse.list in the directory
  /etc/apt/sources.list.d

  sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/opensuse.list

with the following line:

 deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/wellenreiter01/<YOUR OS NAME> ./  

e.g.

Then add the key to your system:

sudo apt-key add Release.key

• Then install the feathercoin gui and daemon:

  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install feathercoin

The commands to start the GUI or the daemon are :

• feathercoin-qt
• feathercoind
• feathercoin-cli

I just set the release flag on github to true for 0.9.6 and made 0.9.6 the default branch.
0.9.6 and master-0.9 are now locked branches, so no further changed will be possible.
I will enable the Linux distributions tomorrow… hopefully…

I think a bit part of that problem is even outside the wallet itself.

When the relations don’t know much about PC’s and nothing about crypto coins, that have no chance to access the coins.

If the wallet is not locked, everybody who has access to the device holding the wallet and knowing the OS login of the person, can access the wallet and the coins.

Hello Roger, first of all welcome to the forum.

I think it is a good idea to get Featercoin back to Wikipedia again.

Feathercoin had a page in the english Wikipedia years ago, but the moderators deleted it.
Reasons at that time where

• missing references in the paper press
  references to internet articles where not accepted
• article writen by the coders and therefore deemed as advertising.

Interesting for me was that at the same time several other smaller crypto coins had Wikipedia pages which were not deleted…

Nevertheless that’s past and I think it is a good idea to get a new page into Wikipedia. Feathercoin has proven to be a long living coin, and I see a better chance to keep the page in Wikipedia.

Go ahead and create the page. I think there is a discussion section for the pages and if other forum members start editing/improving/changing the page and at the same time discuss the changes on Wikipedia, the chance is high, that your work is not deleted.

@kaalhaan if you are not solo mining, but using a pool there is no reason to keep the wallet open all time.
All coins you get are stored in the block chain and your wallet will catch up if coins arrived for you while it was closed.
The only reason to keep a wallet or daemon running all time is if you run a pool yourself or do solo mining as the wallet/daemon then needs to server the miner

That node is out of sync. I shut it down to avoid a loss of coins for the Android wallets.

As a result the Android Wallets are not syncing anymore.

The node’s operating system needs an update prior to the update of the Feathercoin software.

The downtime can be one to two days worst case.

It’s better to have no hypes but the coin is still alive after years, than having a hype and a dead coin 6 month later, when the speculators are gone
