Yes FTC has paid for a number of my tools, so it only seems fair to give something back.

I’ve not been around for a bit, but Feathercoin has been good to me this year and for the last 2 years I have been taking night classes doing something I have wanted to do for years and that is learning to be a watch maker. (My grandfather, great grandfather and I believe my great great grandfather were all watchmakers).
(Yes I get the irony of being involve in Crypto whilst learning a dying and possibly obsolete trade)

Just wondering if there would be any interest in people here in buying restored and serviced vintage and classic wrist watches with Feathercoin. I’m not talking Omega’s and Rolexes I’m talking Seikos, Bulovas and any one of the many Swiss brands from the 1940s to the 1990s.

What I would sell the watches for is my cost to buy and restore plus a small overhead, well less than what you would pay to have the watch serviced on a high street.
My motivation is more practice for me and something back to others that support Feathercoin and to promote the use of FTC for commerce.

If there is an interest I will start a blog showing the restoration of the watches so people can see what I would sell and go from there.

I just thought I would drop buy and wish the Feathercoin Team a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.

I’m still running my node for FTC and I’m taking this lull in interest in FTC to mine myself some more with the low difficulty FTC.

Thanks Ghost I used your source to compile 0.8.7.3 on my raspberry pi, so I’ve got a node up again, although its currently catching up and probably will be for another day.

Compiling failed.
I’m about to go out so will look into this when I get home, I think its a QT5 issue

I can’t post the error message as the spam filter won’t let as it thinks it spam

My starting point was uncle-muddy’s instructions

Which had suggested to disable hardening.
It’s still chugging through the compiling.
If it compiles I will have another try without disabling hardening and then I will create a new install script to set it up as a node to make life easier for other people

It’s compiling at the moment.
After installing sing Raspbian from the 1.8 Noobs on a Rasbperry Pi2 this is what I had to do

Berkeley DB is sorted, there is just a long line of other dependencies I am working through but I think I am getting there

I’m in the process of trying to compile on a Raspberry Pi2, but it may take a while as Berkeley DB version 4.8 is not available in the Raspbian repositories so I am having to compile that first.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
In the mean time I’ve taken down my 0.8.7.1 node
