RE: Changing the hashing algorithm
That’s true and I guess we don’t want to cause trouble for other coins but are we sure that this would be a problem?
If bitcoin did change to scrypt it would be in direct competition for hashes with litecoin, Feathercoin etc etc and has essentially cut out its ASIC miners.
ASIC miners would have to find a new sha256 friendly home. And the GPU scrypt guys would have to make the choice of staying with their coin or jumping ship to bitcoin.
I suppose because of the higher value of bitcoin and the very quick decrease in hashes it would be very lucrative to mine initially at least which would likely be the deciding factor.
If we consider sha3 we would be moving into maxcoin territory. As we don’t really have an ASIC problem yet the scenario is different. So we are not alienating any/many of our loyal miners which means our hash decrease would be lower. We would have to work out at the difficulty we move over to sha3 territory how would we compare financially to maxcoin to figure out the consequences to both Feathercoin and maxcoin.
I believe what wrapper meant is that we’d be the larger coin taking over the smaller coins algo.

What makes a customer choose you over an exchange? You should offer some incentives in order to get more sales.

RE: Farm is complete, time for a big rest!!!
30 rigs, 10 BTC Asics, Electrical Work, Security, didn’t get a whole lot of change out of $150k… I almost just invested all of it in BTC, FTC, DRK and VTC but mining is more fun… And hey, it wouldn’t be crypto if I didn’t get scammed on Country and Colour coins now would it?
I’m in Australia dude, Melbourne, it’s a bit of an IT hub down under, we had a reasonably impressive BTC conference recently…
Have you made back the money you invested yet?

RE: New member want to learn more about mining
Welcome to the forum!
Mining for the most part is only profitable if you’re able to get cheap/free electricity. However there is a very good chance the coin values will go up in the future, so if you’re going to start mining you may want to start quickly. I’d recommend just buying the coins rather than buying the mining hardware.

ASIC, GPU, or Investing?
So i’ve been mining various altcoins for the past 6 months or so using 3 280x’s and have had a lot of fun while making a profit. I see great potential in cryptocurrency in general and would like to invest a few thousand dollars into it. What i’d like to know from you all is what you think I should do.
Should I invest in ASIC’s? If so which one do you recommend and why.
Should I buy some cheap GPU’s and expand my current mining operation?
Should I just use the money I am looking to invest to purchase coins while they’re cheap?
Let me know what you think and please explain why you chose that option. Thanks in advance ;D

RE: What do you do with your ftc?
Hi :) I spend mine at The Oxford Blue in Oxford UK.
Also you can spend them at pock.io - for shopping gift cards etc.
Also you can spend them at Dahms winery.
I’ll link you in to the merchants list… as there are many places you can spend your Feathercoins - Merchants List
I didn’t know about pock.io. Thanks for the post :)
