RE: PayPal president: Bitcoin is good, NFC is bad
This quote he said makes me question how he ever made it out of school let along became a president of a company that handles financial transactions:
“Why do you need to be at a place in a store to make a payment? [NFC is] too little too late.”
Because if the “range” is too far there is an increased risk of theft of the data on the NFC device and unauthorized payments/transactions. Furthermore, what does he think people will just go home and “pay online” later. 'Oh don’t worry about the $1,000 in electronics I just left your store with, I’ll pay you on PayPal when I get home never." I wouldn’t let this guy run a lemonade stand if he comes up with gems like the quote above.

The growing FTC Reddit Community!
Found and joined this subreddit the other day. You don’t have the be a miner to join us and some of you may already be there. My latest contribution over there is a piece on what to bring to a discussion about FTC to those who may not know/understand it. Found in the sidebar here:

It seems to be growing and there’s some great people there it seems. I’m not a mod or anything, just spreading the word!

RE: New FTC holder and miner here
Thanks for the warm welcome!
I’ve tweaked some settings and am getting a higher hash on my mining, have traded some more BTC for FTC, and am selling off some LTC to fund an additional mining card. Maybe one day FTC will rise so much I can pay off all my student loans and have money left over! ;D ;D

RE: R9 290 mining questions
I was looking at 7990s and RS290s but the price and power use meant I’d need to not only increase power costs but also get a higher watt PSU and spend more.
As for temps. The “danger zone” of cards catching fire is probably a little higher than 95C and in the case of the R9 290 I’d expect it to be quite a bit higher since the card runs under heavy gaming around 94C I’m seeing reports of online.
Now a 7950 or 7970 running those temps, that’d be a concern for card damage.

RE: Bitcoin Price Predictions
I’d say around $900 by end of this week, $1,000 by end of year. Fluctuations aside, I see it settling sometime mid next year around $1,500. I expect LTC to hold around $27-32 for a while, maybe going as high as $50-60 by early 2014. FTC I’d expect to be relatively low but stable, maybe hitting the $1-2 mark by early 2014 and maybe hitting $5-10 by Summer 2014. Out of all these 3 I expect FTC to have the lowest variance which I think is a good thing.

New FTC holder and miner here
New here and new to Feathercoin.
I used to sometimes mine BTC and LTC but recently discovered FTC and am happy to be the holder of at least a few hundred FTC as well as a regular miner of FTC for the foreseeable future.
I found FTC exciting not only because it’s low difficulty makes it easy to mine multiple coins a day (which feels great to accumulate) but because I believe FTC is distinct from LTC and offers something different than other coins. Although, I also believe there’s room for multiple coins in our emerging crypto market.
I’m currently mining about 340 k/hash or about 6-9 FTC a day on an overclocked 7850. I’ll be looking to add a 7950/7970 overclocked soon.
I’m a current doctoral student and so depending on the time of the month and year you may or may not see me missing from the forums for stretches at a time. I’m also from the U.S.
Glad to be a part of a good community with a coin that has true potential!
