So I was really asking - not what should be possible - but what people have actually used and has worked for them (not sure if I am asking a wrong question here - maybe it’s a secret) : )

RE: What's the best way to sell your crypto and get the money into your UK bank account
Thanks uncle_muddy.
Last time I looked at bittlicious.com as a seller you need to be able to supply a serious amount of regular coins - that is not something I have.
From: https://bittylicious.com/application
Secondly, you should be ready to sell a reasonable amount of virtual currency. At a minimum, you should be able to sell at least £1000, €1200 or $1500 per week in BTC, but less with altcoins (although still a reasonable amount please!).

What's the best way to sell your crypto and get the money into your UK bank account
Hi,
If you have FTC (e.g. from mining) and you want to turn this into Sterling into your bank account - what is the best way.
Any information or mechanisms people are using would be much appreciated.
BTC-e seems to be a bit of a fortress for getting money out.

RE: New Website Launched!

RE: Fire extinguisher ?
That answer and the explanation deserves a rep at the very least ! - so here you go - have a rep ! : )
Like - Wow - I never thought safety should be so high on the agenda - it’s always cooling and power - but never safety.
Excellent reminder.

RE: Fire extinguisher ?
err - mate that is proper scary !!!
Why do you think this was ?
Over clocking ?
Too much heat ?
The use of cheap components (no offence) ?
It would help to know why you think it happened - ok that might be different then why it did happen - but it’s useful to know your feelings here ?
Or was it just one of those things that can happen ? - in which case - someone would have to be insane to leave a mining rig running overnight at home !!!
On that note - are you a full time miner - or do you have a day job also - in which case - don’t you worry about the house burning down !?

RE: Fire extinguisher ?
I did say it has a half joke … but I can see this is no laughing matter.
I will get myself one.
Thanks for replies
Card on fire - Yikes !

RE: Extreme temperatures needs some serious cooling
Thanks - I did that
Now the fan whirrs up and down when idle : )
ok - but I still can’t modify the voltage - any ideas - I am using OC_GURU II by gigabyte

RE: Extreme temperatures needs some serious cooling
Wow - not paying for electric - how did that happen ?
Anyway - do you have any links to the Asus VBios or what to do ?
Thanks.

RE: Risers
I found more information here - https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945.0 good old google hey - ahem.
In a nutshell - I think it’s a case of some gfx cards needing some power from the motherboard and the fact that - motherboards are meant to support 5 hungry cards so you help them by having powered risers - if you only have about 3 gfx cards it sounds like you don’t need powered risers - but perhaps I did not read it right.
So thanks Ignition75 - your summary was accurate : )

RE: Cgminer vs bfgminer vs other
I am building on 64bit windows 7 and I am not sure if that is the problem.
As I no minimal web surfing etc on the mining machine for fear of infection ! (lol) - I will have to take a look and post something later
It basically complains about not being able to build in the gou support
and even if I put the right files in C:\MinGW\include bin lib
if the ./configure stage it says something like
opencl … no
- sorry I need access to the box to get the exact stuff - but perhaps someone is going to tell me that you can’t do this on 64 bit Windows - I chose windows as I heard the tools are better for tweaking than Linux - perhaps Linux is the right way to go - anyway - I hope to post more info later.
Thanks

Risers
Hi,
I was wondering - when do you need a powered riser and when do you not - i.e. why choose a 1x-16x vs 1x-16 powered ? - surely the gfx cards get’s it power directly from the psu ?
Thanks

RE: Cgminer vs bfgminer vs other
Thanks very much for the help everyone.
I wanted 3.7.2 as I think it might give me a higher hash then 3.5.0
Also does anyone know of a 64bit windows build of sgminer - or does the 32bit one work just fine on 64bit machines running Windows 7 64bit.
Thanks very much

RE: Extreme temperatures needs some serious cooling
I used a bitly link for the picture - thought you would all like to see the stats for which country people clicked from.
Quite an international community !

If anyone finds this creepy - I will remove the picture.

Cgminer vs bfgminer vs other
Hi,
I tried to go through the instructions for building cgminer 3.7.2 and it just did not work ! - what a time sink !
Anyway - does anyone here on the forum know of the location for a pre-built one from a trustable location ? - as the main site does not have it on anymore. I need it for Windows 7 64bit
Also - is bfgminer better ?
Are there any other miner progams worth a try ?
I am using GUIMiner at the mo - it uses CGminer in the back version 3.5.0 - but I know this is a bit old.
Thanks

RE: Extreme temperatures needs some serious cooling
Fans are running at 80% for the R290 and R280x - the R290 is noisy noisy ! X |
By positioning the big fan right I was able to get 70C temperature on the R290 which is not bad.
-
RE: Extreme temperatures needs some serious cooling
good suggestion - my gigabyte r290 is voltage locked : (
my r280x also by gigabyte can be voltage modded using VBE … when I am feeling brave I will have a try …
Thanks.
Best
p.s. I realised that this does not count as serious cooling - given some of the extreme cooling used by miners - but it an idea for newbies like me : )
p.p.s. perhaps someone needs to buy an old but operating wind tunnel and use that to cool a stack of machines … they would have to be well screwed down ! LOL : D -
Extreme temperatures needs some serious cooling
R290 and R280x
Temp from R290 was 88C !!!
After cooling (fan on lowest speed - not sure on wattage - maybe 40W-60W)
Temp for R290 was 74C - much better.
