RE: Stupid question time...
I, personally, use coinotron. They have been the only ones on the ball, since I began mining ftc, mid year last year.
Every time I go to another site, whether to mine another coin or not (even wemineftc) They are slow, or not up to date, or it stops, or gives me error messages.
Coinotron is the only one I trust to work all the time, every time.
However, it really doesn’t matter which one you use, and I am not going to argue one over the other. I know what works for me.
Once your hash rate settles down on coinotron, or wemineftc, or whatever site you decide to use, it will show you your hash rate and how many coins you should expect on a daily basis. The same is true for many other sites.
No, I don’t work for them, I only mine several coins there.
Please look at the chart I mentioned and set your cuda-miner to the setting(s) for your card.
I took me weeks of working the settings to gwet a high hash rate, so it may take you a while, too.
However, you are not going to get a very high hash rate with that card anyway, even if you have multiples of that card.
Apparently your card will not work under cgminer, but uses cuda-miner.
Look at the settings for your card and put them in a batch file you can launch from your desktop.
I am not, unfortunately, up on cudaminer settings or I would leave you a sample batch file and configuration file.
Also, I am not aware if it has a configuration file (like cgminer.conf), you can use to set your card settings.
I would suggest you save your pennies and get a radeon card, or if you like the cudeminer stuff, a GTX 780 card (nvidia).
radeon and cgminer is much easier to use, set and maintain, if you ask me. But I am no expert.
Don’t get me wrong about your card, it is most likely a really fast graphics card, but it’s GPU is not heavy duty enough to hash coins very well.
I run an nvidia card in my personal computer, and it is smaller, uses WAY less current (power), is very fast and very high resolution (as high as my radeon 7950’s, which draw 50 times the power it does to get the same resolution (and it is probably as fast, too).
They are just not set up for mining very well, due to the different gpu they use.
your 10kh is only going to mine about .00005 coins per day or less.
go to this website
enter your hash rate and see what you should be mining
according to 10kh your rate is 0.00005 coins per day, which is a negative income per day using a 450 watt power supply.
even at the high rate(for your card) of 41.5kh you are only going to make .0002 coins/day. Still a negative income situation.

RE: URGENT MANDATORY SOFTWARE UPGRADE - Feathercoind 0.8.6.2
gosh, you staff members really answered my questions AND , my concerns…
You would think that as a staff member, you wouldn’t duplicate your own posts.
BTW. MY pool operator posted the update days ago, after he made it.
please wake up. You are not making the FTC people look very good.
You’re supposed to be computer professionals.

RE: URGENT MANDATORY SOFTWARE UPGRADE - Feathercoind 0.8.6.2
yes it would, but I am going to ask why, after I just gathered all of my coins from my pool(s), and the block index/chain WAS up to date, did the new 0.8.6.2 go ahead and go through the entire blockchain index AGAIN, and take all that time to do what was already done?
I wasn’t having any problems. Isn’t that called a waste of time?
did we actually CHANGE block chains?
I thought this was for the upcoming HARD FORK, and shouldn’t affect anything.
If it wasn’t supposed to affect anything, then why all the new stuff, when all we needed was a new -qt file?
It is “re-indexing” my block chain file(s), and will probably take hours. [after 40 minutes it is still 20 weeks behind], WHEN I WAS ALREADY CAUGHT UP!!!
All we really should have needed was a new feathercoin-qt.exe and not all of this creating a new directory, under program files, etc.
I, already had all of that and nothing was wrong with it. I had to redo all of my stuff because of this.
I know…boo hoo, but it was a waste of time.
I don’t get it.
“If it [ain’t] broke, don’t fix it”.
NOTE THIS:
You should ALWAYS make a note, too, to back up your wallet.dat file, just because, any time you issue a new fix.
NEVER EVER trust a new file to do what it says.
ALWAYS back up your wallet file, preferrably on usb stick. And Encrypt it, so no one can steal it, even if they DO find it.
And, while you are at it, keep a copy in a text file of your password, on yet, another usb stick. If you forget it, you know where to go and get it.
Cut and paste it, so you have an EXACT copy of it, capital letters, symbols, etc, into a text file (use wordpad ,notepad, whatever, something simple and easy to use).
If you are old. like me, then leave someone a message to where all of this is, so they can find it (all of it, wallet.dat file(s) and the encrypted password text file(s) ) if something happens to you.
I have my usb sticks chained together, so I know where both are, marked with a silver marker pen as to which is which. One has wallets, one has passwords. BOTH would have to be in my machine, at the same time, in order for someone to steal my wallet(s) contents.
I back up, at least once a week, so I am never far behind the blockchain(s) for my different coins.
A small 4gb usb stick is all you need, nothing fancy, as long as they work.

RE: Stupid question time...
it is not that hard to answer your question. I’ll try without making you jump through hoops, bark like a dog, etc.
Your card is running right about right ,maybe a little slow, but, as like you said, it is an older card.
Radeon cards seem to be the best right now with a few exceptions.
although it is a litecoin comparisoin chart, feathercoin applies as well.
look here, find your card, compare it to the others.
https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison
yours is close to the bottom , under NVIDIA.
hope this answers your question.

RE: How do I start a feathercoin pool
I am guessing I need a linux computer with a minimum 16gb ram, 1TB hd, dvd drive ,etc. Say something with a multicore processor, and using ddr3-1600 or higher memory. I want it to be as fast as it needs to be.
Money will be no problem for the best hardware. This computer will be dedicated to being a multi-coin pool only. Nothing else. And I would guess I need to learn linux, and some language, such as the unbuntu server 12.04, and the openssh.
I would also ask if I should have a seperate computer for each coin I plan to set up a pool for.
It talks about litecoin, in the example you sent a link to, so should I assume I should download the ftc software source from github, along with any other coin I may set up a pool for?
I don’t want to emulate coinotron, exactly, but I have my eye on ltc, ftc, doge, gld and some others.
I can see this is not going to be easy ,but all I have is time, so I might as well get started.
as a note, it would probably be easier to find a programmer for doing all of this, but if I don’t know it, as well, I could be left in a lurch, if they decided to go elsewhere, besides knowing if things weren’t done properly, backdoors built in, etc.
I also want to know I have secured the pool(s) from ddos attacks, or any other security breaches. -
RE: How do I start a feathercoin pool
actually I like the way coinotron is set up.

RE: How do I start a feathercoin pool
how would you set the different payout type (pplns, etc)?
and how about a web page layout, such as wemineftc.com or anyone else. some have the newer layout.
couldn’t/shouldn’t I just download a site and go from there? Most are exactly the same in design and layout anyway. There must be a template somewhere.

How do I start a feathercoin pool
hardware, software, you name it.
I want to start a dedicated feathercoin pool.
Call me a newbie if you wish ,but I do know a bit about computers, but only older languages, not scrypt, html.
But I can learn.whatever it takes…

Just great
well, that mucks up MY day.
we just got RID of those annoying messages.
all those months we got LTC update mesasges through our FTC client.
After it took an act of congress to get rid of them, here you bring them back.
Just great. Now we will get ltc, ftc, inf, and all the rest of everyone’s stupid messages, ONCE again, because of this.
makes MY day.
and I gotta tell the moderators about that captcha shit.
almost every time I type in what is says and it tells me I have already posted this message, and it isn’t posted, period.
Even with my magnifyoing reading glasses the ##### thing is still blurred enough I get it wrong about half the time AND THEN it gives me the message I already posted it.NOW, each time, I h ave to CUT the text, in case it gives me an error message, because I have to go all the way OUT of the forum to HOME and start the over.
Like I said in several other posts, WHY do you even do this as I am already logged in as a member.
If you think I am not me, then by ###### god don’t let me into the forum, in the first place, and stop penalizing me for being a member by making me do this.
I am either a member or I am not.
If I am, then stop mucking with me and everyone else who is a member by using this crap.
All it does is HINDER, not HELP!!!
It makes me NOT want to post ANY help, whatsoeveralso, clicfking on the speaker, on the capcha, makes it try and DOWNLOAD a soiund bite, in stead of just playing the text, so I can hear what they are.
Why would I download anything from this site, when one of the firat things it says it NOT to download anything from this site.
once again WTH?Edited by Bushstar: Removed profanities!
